Curious to know who (if anyone) on Sythe plays. If you play:
I'd be super interested in playing some 1v1s against some fellow Sythers if anyone plays. I might not even be opposed to the thought of bets here.

Also, if you play Melee, PM, or for some reason Brawl you can state that too.

I never personally got into Melee even though it is considered by everyone the most superior of Smash games. Nothing against it personally, my play style just isn't that fast and I don't enjoy the fast-paced nature.

As bad as he is, I main DeDeDe. I haven't been playing much recently, though--Rivals of Aether is my go to game at the moment.

Imo there's no such thing as a "bad" player. Personally, I main heavy characters who are considered bad like Ganondorf and Donkey Kong just because they're super fun to play with and it's enjoyable. The community doesn't need any more Captain Falcon, Sheik, Zero Suit, Fox, or Ness mains.

All Smash games have tier lists--most fighting/racing games do. It's practically impossible to ensure that all characters are perfectly balanced with each other when move sets & stat allocation are so drastically different. So, yes, there most certainly are "bad characters". Though just because it's more of a challenge to win with a certain character def doesn't mean you shouldn't play them if they're the one you have the most fun with.

Tiers don't mean anything other than how easy it is to play/win with someone if you honestly break it down. If you're good (e.g M2K) you can win tournaments with "bottom-tier" characters like Donkey Kong (his original main). I hate playing against "top-tiers" because they just require no talent to play, especially people who sell their soul to the mid match Diddy Kong...

Saying that tiers don't mean anything is pretty ridiculous (if we're talking about competitive play). There's a reason M2K mains Marth, Sheik and Fox and not Bowser, Ness, and Pichu in Melee. Going back to what you said about Donkey Kong, Smash 4 isn't the best game to use an example, because it's still so new compared to the other titles in the series--especially if you account for how many characters it has. Though, as I said in my previous post, you should definitely play the character you have the most fun with, because unless you're trying to make a living off competitive play, that's ultimately what it's about.

Also, it's not fair to say that playing high tiers requires no talent.. They often take just as much skill to master as any other character, only they have a built in edge against the weaker ones.

We have a version of PM in our engineering common room. It's our first year with it, and since September everybody has gotten so much better lol. A lot of people have already settled into a sort of "main" character and we generally just have a lot of fun playing around. :)

No internet connection but I play a lot of Pikachu, on 3.6 I find he's pretty strong with a ridiculous recovery. Edgeguard against players of our skill level is pretty easy too with him, only problem I have is that he's so light that any skill with a decent amount of knockback will kill him at like 80% :(

Project M is pretty fun, but I just can't find anything more complex and entertaining than Smash 4. I despise Pikachu so much. All I know is 1 person who can play with him well on the smash circuit and that's Esam and I can't remember the last time he won a big tournament with Pikachu.

Super Smash Bros. 4 on the Wii U

A buddy of mine got Smash 4 for Christmas and we fiddled around with it for a few hours today. Oh man, Pikachu's even better in Smash 4 than he is in PM. With a lot of the new stages, a lot of his problems with being light aren't as bad just because of the physical size of the stage. A lot of things that would normally KO him on Brawl and even PM stages just launches him a decent distance, then with the insane recovery he can just get back to the platform. We haven't tried a few of them but we've tried a lot of them. I'd go as far as to say that Sheik/Ness/Pikachu are the most ridiculous characters in this current iteration of Smash 4, among the character's we've played.

Sheik and Ness are top tier so they're super easy to use and have their power moves. If you're playing just for laughs then you can go through all the stages but if you want to ever get better/actually good at the game play only tournament legal stages or better yet omega stages. Pikachu actually isn't that great imo in Smash 4.

Some fun and relatively easy characters to learn are Ike, Link, Peach, Captain Falcon, and Fox. Also, if you play 4 player smash (I mainly play 1v1s atm but play 4+ players during the semester in the dorms with friends) try to play as heavy characters just because it's so easy to land hits with more targets. Playing Ganondorf in 4 player is sure to get a few people angry :p
