Messaging system (not a shoutbox[?])

Has this been thoroughly tested for security protection? Encryption is one thing, but an IM system may still be easier to crack than a PM system. I'm just curious.

Also, will this allow for people to create new user-accounts and spam others? Or will there be rules implemented with this development to prevent harassment of others, a blocking (and reporting) of users including IPs, etc.?

Finally, will there be a downloadable version of this that could be accessed at all times?

One party can "invite" a chat into another. Once the other party accepts, they can then talk. So that would stop spamming.

 

But if you get your Sythe account hacked, you can easily scam someone because the messaging device would be connected to your Sythe account. At least nowadays if you get hacked on Sythe, you will still have your email and Skype, which will make it more difficult to scam.

 

Which is as, as usual, account security is of prime importance. My reasoning why this won't make hacking scams any more dangerous or effective than they already are is: if someone hacks into your sythe account, they can just as easily trick people into thinking they're the legitimate account owner by sending a PM to their trading users, just the same as an IM if this were implemented. Does that make any sense?

 

OR, they can have their phone number linked and if they want to safety lock their account they can insta-lock it with a simple text verificaiton.

 

Due to the most recent round of Skype hackings, I strongly feel that this topic should be revisited again (and highly considered)...

 

Hmm 8 whole months. I am sure there's some reason as to why this is not implemented yet however good it will be.

 

I do agree with this suggestion. It would make it a lot more efficient than just the usual PMing which can take up time when in comparison to Skype.

 

Maybe if it was hosted of a seperate machine but kept within the forum access?

I don't support this. I don't think this is Sythe's responsibility, nor do I think it would be widely adopted, nor do I think it would be worth the tax on server resources.

 

No one said it was his responsibility, Also what do you mean it wouldn't be worth the resources, it could help negate thousands of dollars worth of scams a year.

The pros out weigh the cons, this would be a perfect alt to skype/msn which is easy scammed upon, and consists of most of todays scams.

 

Sythe as in the site, not the person.

It would slow down the site no end, and would be more expensive. Even if it negates $1,000,000 in scams, that money would not actually arrive back to pay for the servers.

 

right because no one donates when they stick around if anything all the people leaving due to being scammed is losing the site money aswell from potential donators.

 

Maybe time and resources would be better spent educating new users than adding a live chat? I use Skype because I can chat with many people at once from different website, instantly. I struggle to believe that Sythe could replicate that.

i think you are missing the point of the suggestion, yes it is a messenger system, but it purpose isn't for socializing, but for trading.
