What if I was to use a mechanical bot that clicks the buttons physically for me like to alch? Would that be bannable or detectable?

Well the problem with runescape, is that when people get banned, it is not necessarly because a "hacking/botting software" is detected. Most bots are pretty much undetectable so most bans are based on repeated actions, playing time, reports, not responding to mods, etc.

I thought of doing that when I actually started RS and wasn't interested in the botting game and now that I think of it, it would probably have a higher ban risk than an actual bot because your movement and clicks would always be EXACTLY the same with no screen movement, no inventory/stats check, etc.

I'm not sure I'm getting my point across right but I hope you get my general feeling about this.

    Think for a second?

If it's a consistent click exactly ever 1.242 seconds or something, obviously that's detectable, human-like is non exact as we can do nothing perfectly for an extended period of time.

Then the play-time thing, if you run it for 3 days, obviously even if it's not exact they know you didnt stay up for 72 hours only clicking a mouse.

Yea I agree and understand both of you, mechanical or software botting is all the same. It is not the program that gets you it is the actions of the account itself. But this is still open for debate! I would like to hear anyone elses opinion.

They already can't detect it - so this would be rather futile.

So your saying basically it makes no difference; bans come from not the programs that bot but the account itself?

No I'm saying bans come repetitive behavior that leads towards other players realizing that it's a bot and reporting it - if the could actually recognize BCEL or reflection effectively the botting community would have a problem.

Until they can actually "detect" the software used to bot, mechanical botting remains, imo, more risky and less effective (for the reasons stated in my previous post).

Normal botting>"mechanical" tbh. Mechanical as you call it, can only do one thing at the time, while if you used bot to do that, it can complete randoms, etc etc.

True, but on a safety standpoint. Is mechanical botting bannable?

    Yes:
    1. You will be doing a repetitive behavior
    2. Any game movements will be very simple
    3. You won't be responding to anyone
    4. Player reports

Yes it is bannable (though probably uncommon) and yes it is also against the rules. Anything that plays the game for you is against the rules so I'd say you're better off using software.

The bans will come from you not having an anti-ban script for your powerdrill connected to a spinning rod.

It will get you banned if you do it alot. I use to use a train speed controller hooded up to a kanex motor witha pencil on it. Haha all my Mates use to laugh but I'd just keep the sound pumping and I could do anything around the house and still here it alch

Laughing hard when I read the comments where people say Jagex can't detect that you are botting.

People use 'mechanical botting' in various other games for different purposes, most of them just to keep their account from going inactive and getting kicked out of the game though.

I assume giving the time a variable wouldn't be too hard using certain tools, even one as basic as one of those birds that tips down and drinks water repeatedly...As more water got into the bird it would tip at a different time rate.

I got my idea from the Simpson episode where Homer works from home and has the bird hit "Y" for yes on every question lol.
