Maybe an actual LEGIT RS hack? (idea question)

hello,
I have a question that popped in my mind an extremely long time ago, around a year before they took out pking i think..
but anyway
would yall think it would be possible to edit the packets going to/from our computer and the runescape servers through our router via a program.
@@@when i say edit a packet, this is what i mean
say you mine a rock, well your computer, more specifically the game, sends a packet to the runescape servers through your router, saying you mined 1 iron rock.
well what if we take that packet while its lingering in the router, save it, edit it so it would say we mined a rock and found a ruby while mining it, and send it to the adress (runescape server)
and POP, we have an iron ore and a ruby in our inventory.

i think it is a much more sane idea than epically failing time and time again with cheat engine(why do people still fool around with that?) or downloading some virus or some bot that gets you the hammer?

im not suggesting illegal activity or anything (if this is not illegal or if it is, please clarify) but i think it is a much better idea than wasting time with things like SCAR that fail most (MOST not all ) of the time.

Believe it or not, this has been tried before. More than once, in fact.

 

im sure just about everything has been tried. what about going to cambridge and trying to access there servers or anything via wireless? im sure thats illegal.

 

I think the packets are encrypted.

 

this isn't going to work for one main reason.

the only thing you computer tells the runescape server is that your mouse clicks at (xxxx,xxxx) coords.. or that you hit x key.

all the other things such as probability of drops, events, hits are controlled by the runescape server itself.
the only way to actually change anything would be to hack into the runescape game files and change your specific character's profile, which has been done before, but is also highly illegal and a multi million dollar corporation like FaGex wouldn't have a problem using whatever tools needed to find and punish you for even attempting something like that.

Runescape is server sided only, you can't change the information, unless you go to the server...and do it directly.

it doesnt matter what u do with your end of the game, for a hack to be complete on both the server and ur computer u would need to change the data on the server aswell as ur computer, not just 1 end.

 

im not talking about editing temporarily. this isnt cheat engine. im talking about sending information directly to the servers verifying you did something, like withdraw an item from your bank, the servers note you have an item that you have withdrawn from your bank and into your inventory, and it shows up on your screen. Making it an actual duplication.

or do you mean something totally different?

 

Packet editing was what created some early hacks back in the day. All fixed now

 

Dude the shit you send to jagex and get back is locked. Its like ghost files that you cant see or touch or edit. Many people have tried and failed. The only thing you can do sort of like that is art money but that doesnt really count but yeah..

Yea, for one the packets are encrypted and two unlike some unsecure games, the only packets that your computer sends to the runescape server is mouseclicks etc and not anything to do with what the mouseclicks do. This was however exactly how autorune was used to dupe back in 2001

 

It won't work... really, it wont work. It's a basic idea, and if it would work, it would have been done thousands of times. The only thing you could send to the server is a movement, or a click. Your router doesn't understand you're playing runescape and taking things out of your bank, it understands that you moved the mouse and clicked.

Runescape is a 100% server based game, you're not going to be able to do ANYTHING without connecting to their server.

 

The only packets you send (upload) are your mouse clicks & key strokes.
Its not your pc that says to runescape you rocked a mine, its runescape that says it to your pc.

 

The 2 last posts, pretty much explains what I wrote.

 

Look up the AutoRune phat glitch. People duplicated phats by sending packets way back when. So, it was possible at one point.

 

This guy is 100% correct. One of my friends sells private servers to people and he told me he has hacked his character and he told me account was banned and he was ip banned. I believe him but I don't really have proof.
