Maul Pure, Should I Have Range?

hi, im currantly making a maul pure
im just wondering weather or not i should get my range up.
i will be getting mage because ill probably blitz then maul for a 3 hit k0.
if i was to get range it would only be for the black d hide and the extra hp lvls
is all that work really needed? or should i just stick with no range?

can you give reasons? i thought people would say go with lvl 1 range because all it will do it get my hp up and let me use black d hide. i wouldnt even really need black d hide because im going to pk in monk. and i use mith gloves

 

dont...range would be just a waste of time since you wouldnt be using it

Well if you want to be unique, get 70+ ranged and become the owner of the legendary firecape. Not seen many maulers with it tbh..

 

Id get range up only for the extra hp levels.

 

Is that even possible to get firecape at only 70 ranged, 1 def?

I currently have a mauler which i love. it owns alot. here are the stats and the reasons for them.

50 attack:for rune scimitar and maul,Maul is my main ko'er
90 strength:for hitting hard on my maul specs.
1 defence:defence is a watse when you have a huge offence.
89 range:because i use iron-rune knifes in wild to knock there hp low(or karlis bow) then when there low hp i maul them down.
34 prayer: for that extra boost to my stats. i dont protect maul because if im killed i think the person who killed me deserves more then a rune scim.(i do pray my x bow =])
82 mage:Ice blitz.Nuff said.
