    Mathcore, I don't get it.

What is so great about mathcore?
I've downloaded Dillinger Escape Plan. The music seems to be so extremely difficult and toplevel music, but to my ears, it is noise, rubbish.
Is there something you need to know to "understand" mathcore?
    I quote this from wikipedia:

It may be a very high level of technical musicianship, but it doesn't great.

(TBH, their song: Come To Daddy, is kinda cool, but it's a remake of the song of Aphex Twin)

If you don't like it, then don't listen to it.
Yeah, it takes a shit lot of talent, as it is very complex.
So you can't reallly say it sucks.
    I like it.
    Your opinion thou, so w/e.

Mathcore, literally takes a lot of music math.
TDEP change time signatures nearly every 7 bars.
    It's awesome.

It may be difficult, complicated, and very ingeniously made, but why "waste" a talent like that instead of making music that is a delight to ones ears?

    1. They are not wasting their talent, they are improving it.
    2. It does delight ears, just not yours..

You need to understand it's progressive/hardcore metal, and have a taste in those genre's to enjoy it.
What's so bad about them? It's like a hardcore/grindcore hybrid...That's a pretty interesting mix. Mathcore/math metal is not just The Dillinger Escape Plan, there are other bands that I'd say are mathcore and sound better than them.Furthermore, the mathcore scene isn't all that big yet, but give it some time and you may find a liking to the genre as it grows.

Listen to Ed Gein, or Discordance Axis. They are pretty much a level below mathcore, progressive grind that isnt as complicated and random.

mathcore itself only applies to certain people, i myself enjoy it but most of the members here only listen to ac/dc, korn, disturbed, puddle of mudd, etc, stuff they think is "heavy", what im saying is most people call it noise, when in my eyes, korn is the worst band since 98 degrees.

I have heard a couple mathcore songs, i have no clue who or what sings them, but they are pretty awesome. Different tastes i guess. The Berzerker are supposed to be a good band with hard to play songs, but to me they sound like a thousand cats in washing machines and an exploding bear.

yup, I have kinda the same opinion about mathcore than you^^
I can hear the amazingly difficult drumbeats, guitar riffs,,etc.. But it doesn't sound like music to me, but ya, that's just my opinion :D

    Mathcore, I don't get it.

An easy way to put Mathcore is that.. alot of people get bored of the same metal bands copying each other. I, myself, was bored of all these metal bands i'd try, and they just didn't appeal to me.. until I started getting into Mathcore. lets just say its for people that love to hear something different, unique, and just out of the ordinary. that's my personality, i love hearing something that's unexpected. Especially Metalcore, metalcore is boring and every band copies each other. With mathcore it can be bands that are not so heavy and then with bands that are extremely heavy. With metalcore it's all the same. But furthermore, If you don't like it, don't complain about it and act like you have to "understand" something to like it, you either like it or you don't like it. there's no need to post something like that because you'll just end up meeting someone like me to tell you that it's your opinion, stick to it, and simply don't listen to it.
