Mass Ban towards botters?

I have heard multiple rumors, is there soon to be a mass ban to all of the botters?

To be honest I'm thinking it's going to be on all of the accounts that have previously been flagged, like the people who run 24/7 and brag about it.

 

That's what people are saying.. I personally doubt it. It will be a delayed ban almost surely which is just a ban of people they already knew were botting. As far as new detection methods I don't think there will be. Because as a reflection bot does not hook into the RS client or do anything with the client at all it is nearly impossible to detect through any sort of software application.

Unless they come out with like a PunkBuster style anti hacking tool that you must download to your PC and install. As far as new detection methods secretly in effect I think it is highly unlikely. They said they updated there macro detection software several times and it was always Bullshit. Runescape has even admitted they can't solve the botting problem, that's why they always update randoms to break bots and ETC. Because that is really the only way they can "detect" bots.

If Jagex couldn't find a solution to reflection bots as of yet with their hundreds of millions of dollars I don't see a solution coming anytime soon. Even then it will quickly be countered by the programmers of the bots and the client anyways.

Most likely Jagex is just fear mongering as always. Time will tell.

Another reason I don't believe they will stop botting completely is because a VAST amount of paying members bot. Plain and simple... they would lose a TON of revenue if they were able to completely detect botting. So not likely.

Again the only way I can see them actually being able to physically detect botting. Not just figure it out through failed randoms and reports is through some type of software that scans your PC. Which you will have to consent to being installed due to privacy issues. So unless they make a big announcement stating they are going to release some type of anti bot software I am pretty sure things will stay the same. As long as reflection bots don't hook the client at all there is really know way to detect them. Also because they are higher on the stack in Java programming so Runescape cannot reflect onto the bot only the bot can reflect onto RS.

 

Jagex can't detect botting since there could be countless reasons where are legit player could be acting like a bot:

He could be bored and purposely get stuck in a random for a few hours, or his little 4 year old brother coming on and clicking randomly for a few hours.

Or possibly trying to act bot like. There's no way they can detect it.

 

Well I'm not sure if it was Jagex or someone but earlier they put a plant in the Aurbury and you see a line of botters and a few legit players yelling "botters". Sucks I was there mining essence and didn't notice. xD

You're an idiot. Nobody in their right mind would get bored enough to click around in a random for hours. Also a four year old has the attention span of a fish. They aren't going to do something boring for hours..

 

Rumors are rumors, all those pictures of "Mod forums" on rs, can be edited quite easily.
The only way to know for sure, is to be in a cc/public chat, when a j-mod is around so you can see.
Or.. if its posted on rs news.

Other than that.. rumors are rumors.

Doubtful, mass ban's had just as little effect as they did when they employed them years ago. There will always be botting, and these shock tactics don't work and I do believe Jagex knows this.

Jagex is bringing back free trade to increase subscriptions and has recently cut down on banning and turned to stat resets instead. They are all about the money now and making rs not only the worlds largest free mmorpg but largest period. I promise you there will be no mass ban. If they crack down on anything it will be chinese gold farming and sales. Everyday user has nothing to worry about.

if anything its a scare tactic. i doubt they'll do it.

 

I have read that the detection involves a invisible npc but still has a npcnumber, it could be anything to a smarter antibot to a hidden employee watching in on you.

 

Gold farming in sweatshops aka china has been cracked down by the government as well and that is what lead to jagex bringing the wild back.
