Mandatory announcement viewing

Lately users have been bitching their little heads off about shit that's already explained in the announcement section, such as slow servers because of search updates. My suggestion is that when an announcement is made, staff have an option of making it pop up for every user the very next time they navigate to any page on the site. A popup like how to user profile works, where it's just an overlay on top of the page you're viewing, so users aren't actually redirected.

This way, people have no excuse about being ignorant as fuck with the inevitable downtimes or slow times while Richard stabilizes and debugs everything in xen.

 

I agree, Especially during such a huge transition like this people need to be kept up to date and force fed information that will potentially help them better understand and use the site, while saving a bunch of previously asked and answered threads from being created.

I know they have stickies and shit to ensure major announcement are on top, but I think a pop up box such as when you get a pm specifically for important announcements would be nice.

 

Also, it doesn't need to be from the announcement section, it can just be like... a global alert that pops up with summarized information, and links to more information if users are curious.

it would save some kids a heap of distress that's for sure lmao. Yeah it probably does get old though having to watch them freaking out and asking about the same damn things when the explanation is in clear sight.

 

Seems like a good idea, assuming those major announcements don't happen often so you won't get flooded with announcement popups. Would be nice if those announcements could be added to the XenForo notification system.
