Are you in school at the moment? Do you have a degree?

 

Yea, I hope so too.

2nd last year of my law degree, although I've completed the Arts component of my degree.

 

Have you already lined up a job?

 

I have an internship over the summer; I apply for grad programs the start of next year (hopefully I get into a good grad program, they're competitive af).

 

You know quite a bit about diverse subjects, I assume because they interest you. Was that a reason for why you decided to pursue a career in law? Or did an interest in law beget your interest in diverse subjects?

 

I wanted to do Commerce and Law. I didn't know you had to do a math unit in High School, so I had to do Arts and Law instead. I've always been heavily interested in business however.

I wanted to do law because it related to business. I never thought to be a lawyer, and I still don't - even if I were, it would only be for M&A / transactional work, and I would probably leave after the first 3-4 years. The Legal Sector is well behind in the digital age. The partners refuse to change, and lawyers themselves aren't equipped with the skills to change. The Big 4 accounting firms for example can adapt very easily as they specialize in a variety of areas (in fact Anderson had a massive fleet of lawyers before the enron scandal). Lawyers essentially specialize in risk management (and interpreting/applying the law). That's definitely not something I want to do.

Thanks for the compliment, ultimately I just like learning, and I actually find a lot of things naturally interesting. I like the how and why questions, not the what questions. I also think the more you know the better, especially at a younger age. It makes learning new things/concepts easier, and it makes analogizing/contextualizing things easier. I wouldn't think the law had anything to do with that desire to learn, although definitely understanding how the law works infects how I perceive the world, since the law touches everything. As a result, it also makes things more interesting, as when I read stuff that has legal implications I can make sense of whats going on. Contrastingly, when I read a scientific paper on cancer, I'm lost.


Ultimately that was a long winded way of saying that since I've always enjoyed business, and think succeeding in business requires you to have an appreciation of a variety of areas, I've naturally been drawn to a variety of areas.

 

I'm you'll do fine in whatever it is you decide to do. To like learning in general at least lets you find a way to tolerate (if not enjoy) nearly anything.

You were never really active when I was on staff with you. With that being said, when you do post you really go into depth and I'm sure alot of us appreciate that. You are definitely someone who follows quality > quantity and I like that.

 

I love the amount of thought you put into every post, both in reports/other mod duties and elsewhere. Quality > quantity you're doing a great job of that from what I've seen and can remember. Thank you

Everything I have seen from you has been on point, the way you compose your responses, to your arguments, your effort in responding with a thought out processed mentality is excellent. Keep it up. I for one appreciate it.

 

I appreciate your hard work for this community, you surely deserved the promotion. Can't really think of much improvements for you other than maybe writing in a little bit less advanced English. Most people here are international and might not understand all words you're using, while I have no problems with it, some people might.
