[DENIED] Making a Giveaway thread

So I made a giveaway thread [GIVEAWAY] 50m OSRS GP HOLIDAY GIVEAWAY and it isnt really getting much traction as you would think

The sandbox thread is where giveaways happen as well as many other things such as miniranks/sg/signature/dicing. It is just a big mix of all the miscellaneous sythe benefits. Some people probably never click on the sandbox because they dont know what it means or it isnt appealing enough. A lot of people would probably participate in giveaway threads currently in the sandbox if it was more clear that there were in fact giveaways. Maybe even just renaming the dicing competitions or something.

I think it would be better to have a straight up "Giveaways" thread. Much easier for people to see it and take part in. Right now you have the sandbox and then inside the sandbox just "dicing competitions" which in my opinion doesnt imply free. Could even stretch it to more traffic on the site in general just more people making accounts to participate in giveaways and then browsing the rest of the site/posting rather than having no account and just lurking as a guest for services/accounts.

Might confuse some people and might deter others from clicking and seeing giveaways.

a simple "Giveaways" thread would be very clear and straightforward. Would get the attention of a lot more people. Very easy to do as well. Either adding it or renaming something idk. Just a spur of the moment suggestion. Happy New year btw

 

yeah for me it just seems like its in a bad melting pot of a spot where a lot of people dont look.

If you saw a "Giveaways" thread you would want to check it out and see what it has to offer but as of now its very bland and not direct enough.

On the front page I would say like its own section in Off-Topic or perhaps Community. Somewhere clear I guess.@Chloe


Theres sandbox and "dice competitions" which are both confusing and misleading. My point is to have something that is very direct like "Giveaways". People participate in giveaways everyday and I think it would encourage a lot of guests to actually make more accounts and increase traffic of the site, even if its small. I guess you could put it inside Sandbox or somewhere else as its own sub-forum but I think on the front page works best.

 

What you're suggesting is a sub-section which I highly doubt will ever happen just for giveaways, unless @Sythe believes it will bring in more users to the website. (Which I mean - it may?)

I tagged Sythe to see what he thinks, but I think just having a sticky in the sandbox would bring more attention to Giveaways in general especially if stickied by a mod, more people will be inclined to check it out.

Other options are maybe a sub-forum similar to "dice competitions" but naming it Giveaways. Im not sure what you exactly mean by a stickie though so what would that exactly be/say? @Chloe

The ones with the pink arrows are stickied threads, meaning they are always on the top and don't need to be bumped.
So when you click on a certain section, you will always see these stickies first.

 

ahh i see. I dont see how that would benefit it too much. once they see the stickies they can read the thread titles anyway. My point was theres no clear "path" (idk how to word it) to giveaways. Like if someone is scrolling the site nothing would give them the impression "oh theres giveaways here"

sandbox is very broad term but maybe some do look there. I think its own sub-section would be best but a sub-forum would be fine as well. maybe adding "Giveaways" to the sandbox title or atleast the description. (if it got a sub-forum it would automatically appear in the description anyway)

There is a section for this on rune-server and I don’t think it gets a lot of attention either. I couldn’t see it happening, but if it did it’d probably remove the sandbox as a whole and be renamed giveaways section or something.

The whole point of the sandbox is to use it for giveaways/competitions(which are usually part of a giveaway), so use it.

 

I made a giveaway thread and I am happy that it isnt get much exposure, otherwise I would have to pay out more often. No support.

 

I am using it and it gets no traffic. Only reason Ive gotten people to know about it is cause I have the thread posted on this suggestion. I just got on and I have 10 new likes on my giveaway BECAUSE of this thread being bumped specifically. Sandbox is too broad and gets minimal traffic. Youre missing the point.
