Make Marijuana Legal?

Well I just made this post to see what you guys think on legalized pot. Just some things I know before I say what I think. I live in Richmond, Virginia (Chesterfield to be exact, look on a map, it's right outside Richmond). I know 3 Chesterfield cops that have told me about killings in Chesterfield that are related to pot. These are the things they don't tell you on the news. They'll tell the reporters it was homicide with "no apparent intent", or even "drug related", but not say it specifically. I then asked my cop-neighbor what the homicides related to marijuana in Richmond city are. When he got back to me on it, I was not surprised to say the least. I had expected a big number. But there are so many homicides a year related to marijuana in my city alone. (As of 2000, Richmond has 1,096,957 people living there, that's not that big, but we are ranked 9th on the most dangerous cities list) That's a "pro" related to legalized marijuana.

Now here's a "con". If marijuana was legalized, the government would control it. They wouldn't let you have the good stuff, just how it's illegal today. They would filter so much out of it, there wouldn't be any THC left! People could go up to the gas station and buy it like you can buy a soda or a pack of cigarettes.

Now here's what I think. Though it might cut down on deaths around the country, I still think it would be bad to legalize it. People are still going to kill people over the good stuff because there's no way the government would legalize that. They'd probably even make a steeper law for good pot, cause they'd say why would you need that if marijuana is legal now.

That's just my opinion. Feel free to post whatever you think on the situation.

Drugs are bad but I think they should all be legal because people choose to do them so it's really their fault if anything happens to them. They should be banned in public areas though because of pollution.

i think all drugs and cigs should be illegal.

 

it is legal,only to certain people with medical problems or something like that,well anyway people have to smoke it to keep healthy or something and if your caught with it and you dont have your proof that a doctor perscribed you to it your in jail but if you do have the proof your ok =)

Gah, Pot isn't something you want to go out smoking in Public. I think it should just be Illegal, kept that way. Pots a sort of thing you go to your friends basement to try out

 

Legalizing pot, would making buy/selling easier, for say, stores.....

you wouldnt have massive debts to a drug dealer, which in return lead to killings =D

just make it illegal to smoke out of your home

i mean i think legalizing it would be good but not with this country cause you cant trust the ppl..i mean i know places where cigs and stuff are legal but the ppl dont abuse it

 

I think weed should be legal. The only reason its not is because the government can't control it therefore they cant put a tax on it.

Here in Seattle, pot is one of the lowest level crimes, the link I posted above is pretty much a big event where you go and smoke. As they say on the radio that hosts it, the cops there would more likely bust someone for littering over someone smoking weed. Thats how it is in Seattle, weed is pretty much leagal. The city knows about Hempfest, but they dont care... Like that 24/7.
