Make 2fa Mandatory In Specific Cases(Thoughts?)

I responded to what he said in the first page bud, that is a fairly minor issue compared to the concept of making hacked users activate 2fa.


if the general idea gets by then we can always improve & revise aswell as address specific issues as they arise(like having 2fa work for smart tv people).


Also i have no idea what a smart tv is so that's not helping me either lols.


& as for shame on me at least I'm trying to do something constructive, ever since you became a bond holder you've gone inactive as hell in terms of helping the forum itself so dont be talking about shame on me.

 

Show some of your reports, and show a big enough sample to prove that the amount of hacked users is big enough for this to be mandatory. I feel while hackings are sparse, it's up to the user to keep their information secure. Should they choose not to use 2fa, it's up to them to accept the repercussions. After all, if they are hacked, they are responsible for any scams on their account.

It comes down to the matter that regular users are free to do what they please. If they don't want to use 2FA, don't believe in it, etc., they have the ability to do that. Should they not want to implement, what case do you have to say that they need to? It'll help keep them secure and such, but what if they don't? Is the punishment a ban? Also, how will the staff determine who is required to have 2FA and who is not?

Also, this is a suggestion thread, for discussing this suggestion. Let's not make personal attacks and derail the purpose of discussing the suggestion at hand.

Happens enough to where I can send staff messages on skype and its typically done within 5 minutes or we figure out what the hell is going on.


I would say sythe is having at least 5-10 people hacked a day, because I can consciously go back at least 2 weeks and recall me reporting 5-10 people for being hacked.

I have to imagine others are doing similar things so thats where the figure is from.

 

Again, show that. Anyone can claim that they report 5-10 hacked users per day. If you're able to show that is indeed the case, then your argument has more merit. However, without adequate support to back up your claim, it is only that: a claim.

Let's not make this a dick measuring contest... Not everyone has access to a smart phone, simple as that. If by chance they do have access to a smart phone, then maybe the user will be asked to activate 2FA.

The user who is hacked is responsible to pay back the members who were scammed whilst their account was hijacked. If this doesn't encourage someone to activate 2FA then idk what will.

 

I support this 100, if they've been hacked before 2fa should be mandatory. Why risk another hacking/scam. Also this would most likely put an end to people who fake being hacked because im pretty sure people do that.

For the record, it is mandatory in some cases, for example all staff and OMMs need to have a 2fa Skype and Sythe account, I know that's not exactly what you meant but this in some sense aids in some potentially huge damage
