Major Sections Overhaul

Can anyone who has a well-thought-out alternative layout for the front page please post it in a seperate thread so it can be judged by the users? I want to reduce the footprint of the front page so I am open to picking one, but we want to get it right.

I'll compile one and add it to the OP once we reach a consensus within the thread. I'll then PM you when we're done?

it's pretty standalone, but it does tie into this at least halfway

 

Perhaps the layout of the front page as a whole needs to be redone in a multi-column layout.
There's lot's of wasted space between the end of the description and the start of the latset posts thing. Changing the layout to have two tiers and changing the latest posts thing to be smaller would work better imo
so

Should be simple enough to implement since most of the front page's code is pasting blocks of PHP. Just rearrange the div's abit and make CSS classes to push them to the left and right of the container and you'd be done in an instant.

It has some merit however I'm neither against it nor for it. You should go make your own thread man.

We could make it Technology & Programming in Off Topic so it is visible from the index?

That was kinda the point. It takes up tons of space on the index and is never used.
