[Lumen/Stellar] A poor mans Ripple? Potential investment with huge return? A Splash?

Note: this is a copy of my thread from a popular crypto forum I use.- If any info seems a little outdated its because its a few weeks old.

What does everyone think about Lumen? I currently am holding around 100k lumen now.

Let me put some points out:

*Lumen shares Ripples niche used by bank area with some expansions towards consumers on it.
*Lumen is nearly as old as ripple(2014 vs 2012)
*Lumen's price has DIRECTLY varied with ripples- this has held firm for the past 1-2 weeks, its price is DIRECTLY being effected by ripples(ripple price rises, lumen does, ripple drops, lumen drops)
*Lumen has been top 5 volumes for 7-14 days straight
*Lumen is ripple back when ripple was unknown and didn't get the exposure ripple has
*Lumen is now getting massive exposure due to it being such heavily traded
*As ripple investors become educated on ripple they are turning towards lumen as a "hedge ur bet" sort of coin, people see lumen as a and I quote from an article "poor mans ripple".
*Consumers and banks are being educated by ripples massive success which is leading people to take a big notice into Lumen and where it might go, the education factor is a huge contributor in its volumes lately.

I personally believe this is a solid investment to make currently, I've flipped ETH, RIPPLE, LTC and more and have came far ahead of my initial investment, I'm VERY interested in lumen.

The last time a coin like this got exposure on this level(jumping from almost obsolete/not traded a lot) it absolutely skyrocketed, I believe lumen is currently about to hit this stage.

Lumen aka stellar for those who don't know is currently VERY cheap compared to ripple yet is up quite a bit the past few days, this is allowing anyone and everyone to get into lumen as ripple becomes more and more expensive.

    Thoughts on lumen?

Charts indicate an upward trend coming if it reacts to its economic structure the way things have in the past.

Lumen seems to be very similar to ripple and with the way that is shifting upward it's only a matter of time before lumen goes up as well :p

I know, right? Like I get questions that are specific and are somewhat looking for more advice on their already observed knowledge, but people are just coming to this sub-forum looking for a free hand-out on how to make a quick buck. It's not that easy.

I ask for advice from some users on this sub-forum, but it usually turns into a conversation. Not just a simple, "What does it do?" "I have $133, what should I invest it in?"

Do your research people and stop relying on random people's word completely.

I'm not noting any upwards trend for Stellar right now. It seems to have been stable for the past few days making no serious gains relative to other currencies. Seems more like a long term investment for sure.

Ripple fell, lumen fell with it.

Ripple up 9% so far today, lumen is back up 5%.

As ripple makes gains, as will lumen.

I'm feeling a dip in price is in the forecast but, ultimately, will rise again.

With regards to the stellar giveaway on the 27th of june, I've done some research and decided to sell my STR. (article: We’re Distributing 16 Billion Lumens to Bitcoin Holders - Stellar)

Stellar has done a similar giveaway (but smaller) in october last year.
Keep in mind that the price dropped when they gave away the 3bln stellar in october last year.

    Before the giveaway: $0.002828
    After giveaway: $0.002346

Price dropped even more, the price before the first giveaway was $0.002828 and it gradually dropped to a low of $0.001585 on the 4th of december.

And from the total of 3 bln stellar that was available for the giveaway, only about 900 million STR was claimed on october the 6th.
It took until january for the price to be back to the same as before the giveaway.
Right now there are only 9 bln stellar in circulation and they will be giving away 16 billion.

I expect prices to drop, but keep in mind that this is just my personal opinion and I could be wrong.

Hold/sell/short at your own risk :)
