Another thread has inspired me to maybe get some advice on this one/what it could mean. Thanks.

I think your wife's theory is quite interesting, and could perhaps be a possibility. It sounds to me like this dream has SOME sort of deeper significance, otherwise you probably would not be having it so frequently and having it affect you so deeply. I just replied to your post in the other dream thread actually, if you want to go read that.

Also - there are some websites and books that really go into depth about different sorts of dreams and what they may possibly mean. Perhaps you could find some information by looking into this some more and doing some kind of research on what this woman might symbolize.

Do you have any experience with lucid dreaming? It would be very, very interesting if you could spend sometime teaching yourself to lucid dream (it does not take long at all), and then you could actually stage a conversation with this woman next time you come into contact with her in your dream, and find out what she wants or what she means? You should really do some reading about lucid dreaming if you haven't read about it before, it is an absolutely incredible phenomenon that anybody can learn :)

Like Zerker said, lucid dreaming could probably give you closure but if you're looking to just sort of stop it you could take some sleeping pills. Generally sleeping pills induce dreamless sleep, which might help you if you take them for a week or something. By the end of that week your mind might have been able to move on.

i used to have reoccurring dreams when i was younger, one about a clown with fangs that dripped blue ooze, and another where i was running from vampires in my neighborhood who wanted to get me... they would always get me and when they would bite my neck i would wake up :3

They eventually stopped, around the same time ( as stated above, could be viewed as silly) i recieved my first dream catcher.

Maybe you should get one? I've had 2 in my life, they come in different styles.. the fist one i got that "caught" my bad dreams was actually a "blessed native american feather" which you hang anywhere near your bed. The second one that i have now is your typicial looking dreamcatcher (circular with the weaving back and forth)

hope your nights get more peacefull; cheers ;)

**Lucid dreaming is something worth giving a shot. I've done it a couple times and it is a very enlightening experience...

Dreams are a way for your subconscious to solve problems. Large amounts of stress, mental anguish, and things like that can cause you to dream crazy things and I have heard that even the food you eat before bed can influence dreams though that is mostly anecdotal. Television in the bed room and directly before bed time can really effect your dreams and I know that from personal experience. Check all of the variables and go about this logically. I personally don't go for all the supernatural mumbo-jumbo. Find if there is any patterns in your before sleep activities and your dreaming, isolate the variable that is causing them and then stop doing that.
