Jagex responds to SoF feedback

I know a lot of you do not like the SoF update and there have been many threads related. Personally, I do not mind the free XP lamps on my skiller for slayer but, Jagex has recently responded to the feedback.

The only change that I would make is if there was not a pop up notification on your screen, similar but smaller than the prayer points indicator by the mini-map. This would allow for the spins to be stored and used at will or when you have time, not everytime you log into the game.

What do you guys think about the response by Jagex?

 

It's a disgrace, with how they ignored all the feedback from the forum, and went by in game "statistics" instead. They just trolled the community big time.

 

As usual, they try to twist up stuff and make it look like everything is ok, mainly to manipulate others into believing their mistakes are actually how it's supposed to work out.

The free daily spins and little activities to gain extras...ok, yeah I see people not caring(which is what they brought up on the fact people were using it a lot). On the other hand, a vast majority of players active on the forums were complaining about them bending the rules to allow their own RWT, them pretty much saying the rules aren't for them, the effects, etc. yet they claim to be listening; they obviously aren't.

It's just a big joke.

 

I do greatly agree with this, for example, they should replace the word "enjoy" with "use". Like I said, I don't mind too much because I need the xp for slayer, it does get annoying popping up every log in and sometimes I just use my spins to get rid of it and I can see a lot of other players with no need for the xp or no need for the SoF at all just using the spins to get rid of it for the day.

 

I think its a shit response, but we're all seeing it from a different PoV. As players, of course many hate the update. People worked their balls off for 99 stats and now people are buying XP but what we all fail to realize is that Jagex is a company, a business.

Not saying I agree, but Jagex has always been in the shadow of WoW and many of their updates have been done in a way to seemingly resemble WoW the game. In Wow, I've heard that the "fun" begins once a player becomes level 80, or "maxed." If Jagex thinks that's what players enjoy and will make more people play, then "selling EXP" is a great money maker for Jagex in the sense that the idea of less time training more time PvMing/PKing and less time skilling will make players want to buy the XP. This way also, once people have spent money attaining the levels they want, they now spend more money buying membership to continue playing at a high level.

Also, Jagex is making bank by basically selling XP and and invoking the "inner gamvler" in many children who buy spins. Even if those stats are bullshit, which I think they are, if only 10% of the community, say 15K people spend 20 dollars a week or month on spins, imagine how much extra money they're gaining from the game.

Its a business, we can't control their decisions so long as these decisions make money for them.

 

There's a small tab for SoF on the side of your friends list tab, I do think that pop up is annoying and should be taken out as they've made a tab for it already.

 

the only way to get the sof removed, would probably go on strike, and not use the wheel at all, but honistly that would be so so hard to do unless we got high subbed people on youtube to lead the stike and get over 50% of members to stop using the sof for a week or something, but i do hate the sof, yeah the lamps are nice to get but being able to buy them is total bs....getting a spin or 2 a day is allright but buying them should never have been put into the game at all.

Totally agree, why are a whole community going to follow set rules when the ones setting the rules are breaking them. :laugh:

 

Useless response, i don't even think that more than 50% likes the SoF.

They could better ignore it than posting this.

I am pretty disappointed with Jagex's response about the SOF, but to be perfectly honest I am not all that surprised. I knew that they would ignore us, which became quite obvious after weeks and weeks of constant negative feedback when they failed to even release a simple statement of acknowledgement.

With that said, this is the part that REALLY pissed me off:

What angered me so much was how Jagex claimed they had been reading the forum posts and listening to player's concerns, and as a direct result of that feedback they went and made crucial changes to the wheel. With the only exception being the security issues surrounding a hacker being able to buy spins with a credit card attached to an account, Jagex completely ignored the feedback and response from the player's, and it makes me angry that they can go and make such ridiculously false claims like this. It's appalling really.

For once, the majority of the player base was united in the opinion that the SoF is bad for the game, and that being able to buy spins on the Squeal is COMPLETELY unfair and damaging to the game. Jagex completely ignored this however, and selectively read the very small percentage of positive forum feedback, and then subsequently implemented a whole slew of new ways to obtain spins in game. That action directly contradicted the feedback they were getting from the players and proves they were completely ignoring the big issue - the fact that the SoF has no place in Runescape and that most players want to see it removed, or at the very least to have the 'Buy Spins' option removed.

This public statement issued by Jagex about the SOF, just proves how ignorant Jagex is towards their paying customers - the people who are filling their greedy pockets in the first place. I am very disappointed with them and their pathetic response to the player reactions to the SoF, and they way they have chosen to handle the situation.

 

It's hypocritical of jagex what they wrote, but no one can really buy a noticable advantage with squeal of fortune. I have an msn contact who spent $300 on spins (yes I saw the proof) and he only bumped up 3 skills from 94-99 from the lamps. It's rwt but if it's what keeps the servers running, I think it could be a lot worse. Would you rather they have pay-to-spin or up membership fees?

 

hate jagex even more for writing that,like honestly the sof is shitty as fuck. They need to realize that theyre not doing anything helpful.and this response is a load of shit.

 

They wouldn't remove it anyway, why would they when It's been one of their best ways to rake the money in from their paying users. Jagex is a business, SoF is a great money maker for them, its here to stay no matter what.

 

I didn't really have a problem with SoF myself, I welcome the free xp. But seeing the reaction of most other players i'm astounded jagex has come out and said this..

 

So basically they're saying " hey because these people don't want to lose out on the potential chance to keeping up with others who got lucky at the sof and are using their free spins they gotta love it " fucking stupid.

 

NOTHING has made me ever "quit" Runescape until they actually decided to sell spins. I was completely fine with the free daily spins - but buying spins? Fuck you Jagex. My membership has been canceled and will remain canceled.

Jesus Jagex, how can you be so stupid? I don't get it; just one crappy update after another.

The only way they could have listened to the players was with earplugs in.

 

See you in a month or two. Face it, nobody can stay "quit" for long, especially if they still post on Runescape fansites.
