    New 'Review' Section

Before I start, apologies if there have been previous suggestions on this, I did vaguely scan through some old and current suggestions for this and couldn't find any similar threads.

I understand that Sythe is a online marketplace for all sorts of things, however we do have sections that are general, as probably, supprisingly enough, most of the active members aren't actually using the marketplace as a hub.
People, such as myself, are browsing many different sections a day, looking for some interesting threads and something other than the marketplace.

I have an idea for game enthusiasts that could potentially benefit all parties (Sythe in general, the Marketplace and the reader).
As a game enthusiast myself, I like to often buy older Xbox 360 games and Computer Games that aren't as popular as games such as Call of Duty, a lot of these games are RPG games such as Oblivion etc.

I am quite fed up of reading reviews on many websites where it looks like a computer has typed absolute irrelevant turd that is displayed on my screen.

A Review section on Sythe would enable the people I am familiar to imput their thoughts and hopefully change descions for people looking to buy new games or experience something new.

Here's what is intended in this suggestion, of course, all of this stuff is open to interpretation:

    Xbox 360 Games
    - RPG
    - Racing
    - FPS
etc. (Same for all game consoles)
:- Of course main games should be stickied so that mulitiple threads aren't spamming up the section.

    PS3 Games
    - The same sections as Xbox, however Xbox / PS3 do have different games such as Halo is only on Xbox. A notice could be at the top of each section notifying that different game reviews may come under different consoles, and after all, they are the same game so the review would be similar.

    Computer Games
    - The same sections as previous, but unlike Xbox Games and PS3 Games, Computer Games often get branded up, as games are sometimes incompletable such as Runescape or WoW, so these games may start of not very popular but people could suggest these new games and review them.

Other Categories such as Wii, older consoles, etc.

The benefits that this could have on potential parties are:

    Marketplace:-

    Here's a scenario:
:- An Xbox 360 game, that has been reviewed and the thread has a lot of positive comments. A reader stumbles upon this thread and decides that they will buy this game for X amount of Microsoft Points. The reader then goes to the marketplace to buy X amount of Microsoft Points. Win/Win.

This follows the same lines for almost all consoles and could possibly even boost real life sales if someone was interested in selling games.
This would then follow on to people wanting, to lets say, improve things on there Computer Game, meaning they would buy Gold/Armor/Items/Whatever on the Marketplace. Win/Win.

    The Actual Reader:-

:- There's been a number of times where I've read reviews online about a game I'm interested in, I then proceed to buy this game, only to find out that this game is absolutely horrible! So why are these reviews so bad? People are paid to review games, i'm pretty sure you're all aware of that. Yes, I know there are forum boards that review games, but hey, they don't have the community of Sythe. This could actually benefit the reader from REAL gamers reviews, meaning money, or time isn't wasted.

There are little cons about this suggestion, I don't believe this is an extremely hard thing to implement, nor do many factors actually prevent this from happening. The only cons that I can think of are:

    Moderators:-

:- As with a new section, more moderators are required, meaning handing down that power to new people. Moderators come and go, and do we have the power to control these boards?

    Spam:-

:- Spam can be an issue here. Multiple threads can be posted about the same game, sticky the main ones and lock the new ones. Simple. I also suggest disabling post count here, just to stop newcomers posting "This game is sick" so they can brag on Skype they have 100 posts so they shouldn't go first.

    Layout:-

:- I understand that at the minute, the homepage has a lot of categories on it, all this suggestion needs is one main link on the homepage as "Reviews", this could then lead onto the actual sub-sections of the 'Reviews'.

    - Thanks for reading, if you're looking for a tl;dr part of this post, you shouldn't even be considering posting feedback on this.

All criticsms are open to interpretation, don't worry I won't be offended.

Once again, sorry if this has been mentioned before!

    Thoughts?

I support this it sounds like a good idea. Bringing revenue through the marketplace can only mean good things.

No support - The games market place is just fine there is no need to add things. All you have to do is make the games topic the header of your thread. No need to adding other confusing things to the already cluttered stickies.

All the other markets are not that hard to maneuver to where they need change, i do think they need to add more games for people who actually play older games. Maybe updating the current stickies Yes maybe.

    New 'Review' Section

This is not a section for the marketplace, nor are there any new stickies on pages irrelivant to the actual section. This is a section where people can input there thoughts on a game. Did you even read the OP?

yes your speaking of trying to widen the view of the stickies and opening them up to individual topics i like the idea but its fine the way it is.

Making more stickies for specific games and other topics, i believe is what your saying correct or not.

But if you are talking about adding other things to the stickies then id support it yes becaue i do think were lacking some things in the stickies as far as games go idk about the other common thread sections,.

    New 'Review' Section

We already have the Games Discussion located in off topic, from a quick skim it looks pretty dead. If you're that desperate to write reviews and get this review section going maybe you can start posting there and if it gathers enough support/interest then maybe come again asking for a section to be created.

I just think considering how dead it looks, it might not be the best idea. However, if you can show that enough people are willing/and writing reviews. Plus people are then discussing them, maybe then I would consider supporting such a notion.

Also, from a quick look at 'Games Discussion' maybe it would be better to start off by adding a sub-section for Reviews which would cover all games. Then if it does gather the support, split it up into the different genres and place it on the main page under this new section; whilst merging it with the general discussions for the given genres.

I would support adding a section or a subsection for Reviews, i would be glad if i could find guides for games and such, would make the experience far better.

^ Actually I think that is a very good idea, why don't you start a review thread and see if you can get people interested and if that works then you could come back with this idea and have more leverage towards getting it approved good idea lazy

Im sure they could test it out like they tested the new market design before it went into full affect.

No support. It's just making the site look more cluttered then it is. Also, the add would really have no potential into being worth the effort of writing another Stiicky, adding it, making everything look nice, so on.

Why is everyone getting confused about stickies?
Stickies don't play a major part in this at all.
The stickies are what normal users have entered firstly so that a precedent thread can be set for a game.

There's plenty of place for discussion regarding games. Topics like this can be posted in the games discussion section for any of the games we have listed or in the "other" section if it's not a game that's listed. Dedicating a section to it would just take up space.
