Location change lock?

In my past experience I have had an account locked for a IP location change.

I was using it on my computer then logged into it (5 minutes after) on a VPS (based in America) and it was locked.

Recovered it and it was fine. I just make sure to wait 30 minutes now before logging on with a new IP. Never had an account locked since.

That's a good thing at least, and it's unlikely that you'll stay banned if no one else has your login details. OT: I've heard of accounts getting locked while people were traveling on vacation, but personally, I've used accounts that were created in eastern Europe, logged onto from five different countries within a week, and had no issues.

Also, I've never had an issue with an account lock in any of the 200+ accounts I've trained and any of the 50+ accounts I've MMed trades for, so I'd think there's some relationship between other people trying to recover accounts they don't own and your issue.

 

I don't think Jagex checks just IP. I think they have access to your device information as well. For example, I have moved numerous times, cross country even, and never had a lock. That could be because my computers I log in with stay the same and they have access to this information.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they have more than just IP to go off of. If they could track devices too that wouldn't surprise me. IE If I log into UK on my laptop on Runescape, they know it's still me.

Take this for what it is though, a guess...I'm not positive they have device information, but it wouldn't surprise me. If the device and location suddenly change, that may be what warrants the lock.

The only time I was ever locked was using a friends account for staking. New device and location = red flag? Perhaps.

Sent in a recovery, got it back with no fuss. Must've been the IP thing.
