Sometimes I hate Sythe.

Like when I post a thread selling something, and 8 dickheads saying "don't trade with this guy" or "trade with caution" even though I haven't spoken to them or anything. But then..

Today I posted a thread selling my final 800M in RuneScape. A guy PMs me within 4 minutes of posting the thread, and tells me he'll buy 400M. He ends up buying the whole entire thing, hassle free. I love Sythe.

But then what happens? He didn't vouch, and won't answer me on Skype. Ffs Sythe.

Any unfounded claims of scamming can just be reported and will be dealt with by a moderator. As with the vouches, you aren't obliged to vouch after a trade, but I know what you mean. These things happen I guess, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons here!

 

There was no scam, he just didn't vouch for a relatively large trade haha.

 

What payment method did he use?
I might be raising a false alarm, but I have a feeling that he'll file a chargeback.

 

Paypal.
I know exactly what you mean - I took the liberty of sending the money to my mom's PayPal just incase, and removed the credit card off of the PayPal account so they don't end up charging my dad.

It's happened to me before, and it's not pretty.

 

IMO the worst will end up happening but glad to see that you too measures to prevent anything bad from happening.
You probably wont be able to use that credit card for paypal anymore though :/

Well, you make a valid point. But you can't blame it on Sythe itself. More the community, you know? Sythe itself, as in the staff, administration, etc. do a really good job, it's just some of the community that's a bunch of retards. Mind you, that's a small portion.

We all know if people want a quick sale. It's usually scam.

 

In my opinion I'd pay off the debt, Paypal isn't stupid and if they really want to, they can destroy both your parent's credit score if you leave this be...something which takes years and years to build up.

Yeah, but hopefully I can tell them that I really expected it to happen and it seemed sketchy from the beginning and hopefully they'll realize that it was going to happen.

 

Why on earth would PayPal be sympathetic if they thought you were going to get hit with a chargeback? They'll probably tear down your mom/dad/both parents' credit so I'd highly recommend paying it back. Otherwise you are just contributing to stolen credit card fraud in a way.

 

I'd definitely call them and talk to them if you don't sound like an 8 year old on the phone and have at least 5 hours a day to spend with them.

Otherwise, you are definitely screwed.
