I know it's rather soon and I've only just been unbanned but I wouldn't mind taking up some kind of personal support/community mod.

SuF and mohtasa used to be in there frequently and sometimes Karl, but mohtasa resigned. I'd support having some community involved users like TBT to have access to the livechat. Can't think of anyone else who would be able to fill it, and applications would be horrible.

I think it'd be too soon. Plus not many people know who you are unless they were around a while ago. Nothing personal.

3 Moderators have resigned this week.

    Mohtasa, Scottay, KeroKeroCola.

TBH, it will take some time to get the extra hands, but the mod team will easily cope. The only difference is, is that moh was active in LiveChat.

There is no sense in arguing over who should be chosen to fulfill the role. The staff will choose who they see fit, and if they think you or anyone else is apt for the job, then that person will get chosen.

Ugh. The problem with having a normal user being a LiveChat operator is that this is what the LiveChat is for:

It's normally just used for title changes, deleting posts, etc.

Having a normal user be a LiveChat operator would be pointless as most of it requires mod powers. Also, a lot of the questions that are asked need mod powers to answer... so why not just promote the person to mod in the first place?

Still, I agree, the LiveChat needs to be online more.

Questions about the Sythe.org rules. Easily answered by normal members

Scammer and Spammer Reports. Can be assisted by normal members.

Donations. Easily answered by normal members.

Bans and Infractions. Can not specifically be answered by normal members, but general information can be provided.

General Site Questions.Easily answered by community members.

It's normally just used for title changes, deleting posts, etc. Less efficient, but the operator could simply direct the user to report his post.

I feel as though a team of verified normal members could help in situations where there are no other mods willing to assist. The only downfall would be that the "non-mod team" would have to direct the users of the system to a forum (such as anti-scam) or the mod that they should talk to (in infraction disputes) rather than directly dealing with them. This team, though, could help compile scam reports, etc. and I'm certain that they would be glad to do it. (allowing the mods to sift through pages of better quality scam reports more efficiently without spending their time with this Livehelp)

note: No body gets any help if no one is on, so compromise may be necessary.

This should be moved or re-written in the suggestions forum.

Yeah, that'd be great, I've been talking to JohnK about this.

I don't see why normal members couldn't help in those aspects? I mean, I think many members could answer questions in those categories. The only time I think normal members couldn't "help" is when members need help reversing infractions, title changes, deleting posts, etc., even then that's not what live help is used for. We could probably direct them what to do.

We wouldn't want normal members telling people about rules because many times the staff know what they actually mean a bit better and if there is a question, it means something is confusing so it is likely many people will not know and we wouldn't want misinformation being spread.

That makes sense. And I would suggest some sort of rigorous process or test.. but then again, as Superman said, why not just be a mod, right?

I agree with JohnK though that bringing back the User Education system might be very beneficial for the community.

I agree with this 100%. From what I can remember at least from the User-Education days, the User-Educators were a very handy bunch of people who would be willing to help out with Sythe Live Support without blinking an eyelid, and there are some very helpful people here today that would do the same thing.

Sorry to get a little off topic, but why was the User Educator section removed?

From what I know, I don't think the Staff liked having normal members have a rank, because it seemed like members were just applying for UE to get a rank which makes them look cooler..or more trustworthy. Also, I don't think they liked the whole application process.

I feel like many people would still apply just to get the rank or just to gain more "trust" on the site. Which is a pretty large issue.

A solution would be to scrap the UE ranks, possible with the exception of Head User Educator.
The pro of this: This problem would be solved. Anyone who applied would probably be there just to help.
The con of this: People would be sacrificing their time for almost no recognition.

    Any thoughts?
