Live Help

Is the Live Help ever online? Since I've been back, I haven't seen it online. I don't know whether it's in some sort of development or there just isn't any staff to do it so, would anyone like to inform me?

If the case is there isn't any people to assist with the help, I'm always willing to help if need be.

 

It does come online, just not as often anymore. When it first started there was almost always someone online, but I guess the staff have been to busy.

I think it would be helpful for staff to appoint some members of the community that could use the LiveHelp to assist people when the staff are busy.

 

Yeah - there's no point in having such a good feature if there's noone there to help the community.

 

Agreed, that would be great, there's no point if it's not going to be used.

 

It's not on as much as it was when it was first released, I think I was the first or one of the first to use it after it appeared on the site. You have to remember that the staff have busy lives as we do and don't always have the time to be on Livechat. Admitted, Livechat has come in useful more than once for me.

 

Yes I realize staff have busy lives, but I think it would be helpful for them and for everyone else if they appointed people (sort of like CAs) that could use the LiveChat to help out when the staff is preoccupied.

 

Agreed, was about to suggest something similar. They should have representatives, staff picked members who are willing to help out.

 

I agree with this. Also, many of the staff who made this work and made this active have now resigned.

I definitely feel as though there should be some community appointed members. (Via. a registration such as OVG and some sort of live test given by a high ranking staff member)

 

I agree, pretty sure the staff could pick a few members they trust to manage the livechat. I know some members are more active than mods on here.

Yeah, that's one of the problems that could arise if non mods were allowed to manage the live chat. I suppose they could bring a mod to the conversation if one was on, if not then all they could do is ask them to PM a mod with the question.

 

Normal users shouldn't be able to be live help representatives because the only time i used live help was when i needed to talk about my account... And honestly if a normal user can look at your account info they may as well just be a mod... maybe special mods just for live help?

 

Then maybe we need more than SuF as a personal support mod?

 

You do realise what personal support mods are in charge of? The personal support and assistance section. Not forum support, but support for IRL problems.

Any mod can sit in Livehelp and help people, they just don't. I've been really busy and I've tried to get in there now and then but its hard to find time that I'm willing to be on call and help people right that second. Its not like PMs that I can just ignore till morning or whenever I remember about them.

 

I understand that as I know I've been there before myself.

 

I'm trying to to get it integrated into the mod log system - hopefully that will help it become more active.

 

That would be a good incentive for mods to get involved. Maybe like at the end of the chat, the user could submit a form saying whether the mod helped or not and if they did so, then that could be a + mod log?

 

Personally I'd like to see some sort of Community Support team back.
