Hello as I been trying to find ways on changing things in my computer I for myself found a way to change my ip address anytime on the web without using a proxy even though it takes a couple of minutes to do.

No, only works for dsl/cable modem

How long does it take me to get a new ip address?

Less than five minutes if your doing the process right

How will changing my ip address help me on the web?

Well there plenty of things changing your ip could help you if you get banned on chat rooms, survey sites, gaming sites, advertising sites, basically anything unless your whole location gets blocked (sometimes happens)

I heard opening run and putting in "cmd" will change my ip address?

Yes that could work to though sometimes it doesn't work

THIS IS THE PLUG THAT CONNECTS MY COMPUTER. (IF YOU HAVE ONE LIKE THIS YOU CAN PLUG IT OUT AND BACK IN AND WILL TAKE COUPLE OF MINUTES TO GET A NEW IP ADDRESS)

SO NOW AS YOU SEE THE LIGHT AT THE BOTTOM (LOCAL NETWORK) IS SHUT DOWN WHEN I PULL OUT THE CABLE.



AS YOU SEE HERE ONE OF THE LIGHTS IS RED (MEANS ITS CONNECTING BACK TO THE NETWORK GIVING YOU A NEW IP ADDRESS)



THIS IS THE PART WERE YOU CAN START GOING BACK ON THE WEB ONCE ALL THE LIGHTS ARE ON AND NOT BLINKING

A BASIC STEP BY STEP IN WORDS TO CHANGING YOUR IP ADDRESS IN TWO WAYS FOR DSL/CABLE MODEM USERS

FIRST WAY

PLUG OUT THE PLUG FROM THE WALL THAT CONNECTS YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION USUALLY BLACK
ALL YOUR CONNECTIONS WILL GO DOWN ALONG WITH NETWORK
PLUG IT BACK IN AND WAIT FOR THE LIGHT TO BEGIN PROCESSING.

SECOND WAY

PULL OUT THE WIRE FROM THE BACK OF YOUR COMPUTER OR CABLE MODEM/DSL BOX (FAT CORD) YELLOW
PUT IT BACK IN AND WAIT FOR IT CONNECT BACK

ONCE ALL THE LIGHTS ARE ON AND NOT BLINKING THEN YOUR READY TO BROWSE AGAIN!

Yea... all you do is disconnect from teh internet pretty much, then wait until someone takes your old ip and then you reconnect and your isp gives u a new one. :/

Well, I change the plug from the powerpoint using Step 1. It fails, as I only have the same i.p adresses. At that time, when I plug out, my computer was on. So mate help me? May be I try Step 2 but atm please give solutions to the Step 1 probelm.

 

Do you have dsl box? or a cable modem only? If you have a fat cord kind of in a different color see above mines is yellow I just pull that out from the back of my computer not the box and I put it back in and then wait a while to re-connect to my system. But sometimes plugging out from the wall doesn't always do it since you will have to plug it out from the back first in order to start it. My Ip address's change from for example this is not the real one..lol but goes something like this

70.522.6528.75 To... 72.235.46.175...Then To 45.72.125.32 Just keeps giving me random ones and they stay then until you change again.

 

Ehm, I do not believe you put all the correct information into this guide...

Before you unplug the box go to Command Prompt, and typing:ipconfig/release.

After that, unplug the box, and reboot your computer, it now should work depending on the kind of box you have.

Off the record, I truly do not thing this is legal due to the fact that you are only really supposed to have one... so if like a Comcast Cable guy comes over and it is changed, I am pretty sure they can like sue you.

Anyways.... good guide, just make sure it is not dangerous.

 

Thanks for support I don't have to put in ipconfig/release in order to do it but some may have to and thanks for putting that in.

 

Well this way it ensures it if your computer is plugged into a wireless connection, because since your computer has the backed up information it will still use that, if you the ipconfig/release thing, it will erase that data for you.

Overall you should do it just to be safe !

I liked the guide, though for many people that lack brainpower, it could be difficult to follow. On my cable modem for instance, there isn't a LAN light. It could get confusing for noobs when they start looking for it and spam you with lame issues. Just a thought.
