I want to find my brother.

Ok so my Older half brother by 11 years. Has not been in mine or my families life for about 5 years now. He was always the problem child getting in trouble. His father was not a good person so my mother left him and remarried. Had three more children then my own father turned to trash and my mother had enough So she raised the rest of us by herself, as my older brother had moved out. My mother eventually found another boyfriend who my brother dissapproved and eventually dissowned my whole family. It kills my mother inside and I want so deeply to find a way to find him and fix this. However all I know is his name and possibly the state hes in. He was a computer person. Back when I was a kid he was the kind of person into everquest, and who knows what else. He was always on the computer and made a living off it as many sythe users do. I know its a crazy longshot but I just want to find some places that are very known, or actually not very known that are visited for online rpgs such as everquests, online gun sites(my brother very into guns). However he was not the type to go on what one would call "popular" sites. He was very careful and always cautious. He was infact a genius IQ tested at 163 at his age of 12. I just want the chance to find him. For my mothers sake I want her and her son to have a decent relationship.

 

Are there any common friends, or even family that you have, who may still be in contact with him?

I can only think of getting in touch with family/friends who may still be in touch with him, to see if you can get his email/phone number or any other details where you can contact him.

I find it odd that your brother could leave YOU, over pain caused by your mom. And to not tell you where he went, is just beyond my belief.

Sad story if true, check facebook/ other social websites?

^, try checking on any social media site FB/Twitter/instagram. Being a techy person, I'm sure he has some sort of contact online, perhaps maybe an email? It's really difficult to find him otherwise lol, the world is a big place with 7B+ people. Best of luck.

I'm pretty sure you can narrow his online profile down by quite a bit if you know his full name, state, and whatever other information.

 

From what you said about your brother my advice is the next:

He infact is an above the average when it comes to IQ. So odds are that he is into self knowledge and could see that your mother isn't as great as you might think. One is clear, your mother is good at making bad decicions. She have had children with 2 different men and I wouldn't be amazed if she had a kid with the current boyfriend aswell. Since I don't know the facts then lets just assume that the 2 previous men were as bad as you said (but I would place my bet on your mother being just a pretty woman with a bad attitude. The sort of a woman from whom men just run once they understand the situation they are in). Your brother most likely gave up on your mother after he saw that the new guy isn't better than the previous two and when he tried to show it to your mother and she, by being great at making bad decicions, refused to hear him. I guess that was the last straw for him. I can personally relate to your brother a lot. Not the same backstory but close enough.

My guess is that he will contact you once he is ready, but I don't see him accepting his/your mother back to his life though, unless she actualy changes, which I personally doubt.

If the previous is somewhat true(I'm just kinda guessing here), then I don't see how you contacting him will change anything. I personally would suggest looking into some self knowledge yourself to connect with your brother in the future. And with a mother like that you could surely use it. Try to understand why your brother couldn't get along with your mother and what made him to disown all of you. I know you will try to protect your mother by saying that she has done everything she could but I urge you to think deeper about your mother's choices and if they were mostly about her personal gain or yours. I can sort of imagine how a talk with your mother would go: "But I have done everything for you, how can you attack me like this, your own mother etc". A perfect guilt trip

Yeah man I feel you. You have no chance here man. If you want a realistic answer, save up and hire a good private investigator

 

My first stop would be social media. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and the likes.

Then I'd ask people you were mutual acquaintances with, write to the local newspapers in your area asking if anyone has any info, sign up on these ancestory websites and try and track his location down.. etc

 

Facebook and other social networking are you best bet.

 

Try googlin' all you know 'bout that guy, surnames, names, maybe parent names , try fittin' in some info about him such as place birth, place he might be in and so on. good luck meyt.

I have a long lost brother as well who I haven't seen for 5 years. The story and circumstances are different but I completely sympathize with missing him. In my story it was the fault of my Dad and it kills me to realise it's my Dads fault as to why I don't have contact with my brother.

The best thing I can suggest is social media , facebook, twitter...etc. After that, any mutual acquaintances, ask the whole of your family, aunts, uncles...etc. Maybe even one of his old friends might know a little more, maybe he said something to them before he left.

However, a reassuring thought is that I'm sure wherever he is , he's doing fine. I hope one day you are reunited.

 

Don't go look for him would be my honest advice, he's smart and if he wanted to get back in touch he would.. Finding him and then hearing he's not interested in a reunion might be hard on you and your family.

A lot of people are saying social media, and yes, it's a good place to start.

You can also try ancestry.com, it's a website for building your family tree and finding out your heritage, however, it tells information about the people once you find and add them to your tree, often if they are living, it will have home address, phone numbers, and more.

 

I don't agree with this..It might be hard, painful and emotionally...But I would rather meet and know him than just leave it. The mystery , the regret of not trying will eat you up even more than if your brother wants nothing to do with you.

How do you know , he doesn't want to get back in contact? Or maybe is just scared of rejection as well...

I would try sites like Kijiji/craigslist posting any info you have about him just not TOO detailed just enough that he would know by seeing it.

Create accounts for games like Runescape and stuff and go on their forums and try your best to get the word out.

It's such a difficult situation you're in but I've seen more 'impossible' situations turn out for the better.

Just believe in yourself and your goal.

 

Thanks for all the responses I know I'm late getting back. Some are very helpful, others not so much. I have tried searching many times but to no avail. He has always been a loner he doesnt do social media. He had a girlfriend when he left she went to he met her online, but dont remember her last name. I'll just keep doing what I can
