    Legal Question

I've got a question regarding the freedom of speech over the internet.

If you live in a country that doesn't have freedom of speech, and you go on YouTube and say the 'N' word, or other hate speak, can you get in trouble in your country?

I was wondering because YouTube is based in the US (California to be specific), and the US has freedom of speech, but, the other country doesn't... can the said person still get in trouble for hate speak?

    Legal Question

That's actually a good question. I bet it's your country's rules that take priority over the laws of the U.S.A, because it's you who made the video and distributed the video. Not to mention, there are many other hosting sites, so I doubt your choice of YouTube would like get you out of trouble. Stupid shit, I know.

BTW, Own, about your signature, I don't think it's true that 1/2 of all people understand binary...I like the sig more where it's "There are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary, and those who wonder who the other 9 are." Sorry, totally random. Couldn't be bothered to PM.

    Legal Question

It probably depends on the situation. If it's a country as strict as Singapore, you'd probably be at LEAST thrown in jail for said acts. It also depends on how they catch you, etc.

    I'm sure it varies regardless.

    Legal Question

If you think about it, the reason why the UK take it seriously is because most of the big shops in london, cardiff, and basically everywhere are all owned by "paki's" what would we do if they left the country if we called them the "N" word. We would all be living in the queens dustbins.

Even if it was legal to say that, would you feel good about yourself after saying that?

That's good and all, but, what the fuck does that have to do with my question? My question is about legality, not morality.

    Legal Question

Well, In the US you wouldn't get arrested, however, I'm sure some person if you directly said it to them, though there is a low chance, would sue you.
