Lizard squad nooblets at it again

The same group claimed responsibility for attacks on RS and LoL earlier in the year. Has anyone been affected by this batch of attacks? Thoughts?

 

Pretty sparse article, didn't offer a whole lot of information. But of course they're claiming responsibility. I'm sure they do this all the time. They finally get a successful DDoS for like an hour and then pop off on Twitter about how they're K1NG H4X0RZ and shit. Even if they did do it, what's the point? There's no reasoning behind it, and I doubt people are going to really make a big uproar about not signing into XBL for like 2-1/2 hours max.

Seems like a bunch of neckbeards desperate for attention to me. I mean, they're called Lizard Squad for Christ's sake. At least Anonymous had the balls to go after large corporations and they had legitimate motivations.

 

This is old and they destroyed 07 Rs servers for a damn good while

 

Hacking is a stretch. From what I've read they're the laughing stock of the hacking community for trying to glorify DDoSing.

Not really impressive to me. Anyone can ddos with a very slight amount of technical knowledge/money. Really pathetic to knock off game servers for notoriety though.

Well the developers were pretty pissed, and all they can do is contact the FBI (as far as anyone knows they are in the US somewhere). The players were raging to hell, but of course there's nothing anyone can do aside from spam their Twitter with hate.

They said they were doing it because big game companies are corrupt. But to be honest they just hit whoever they felt like, they didn't care. So in other words it for the lulz.

 

I always believed that they wanted attention by asserting some sort of technical dominance. That, and they have to be profiting off this somehow.

 

Xbox Support Twitter feed claimed they found one of the owners + "hackers" in Toronto.

Not sure what ended up happening with that. Seems awfully asinine to risk hard jail time for something this stupid. So I couldn't play Xbox Live on monday...life goes on. It's just a petty annoyance and they're not really hackers.
