Laid off due to COVID-19.

Building supplies and material distributors were considered life-sustaining personnel, but since I deliver construction materials, concrete, all our contractors had to close up shop..

Today is my first day of lay off, so we'll see how it goes.

Anybody else?

 

Not me thankfully (working from home) but my roommate and my girlfriend both do restaurant work and are without income rn. Not laid off, but put "on hold" indefinitely. Thankfully the government has announced some pretty exceptional measures to help people out.

Sorry to hear that you got laid off. US I'm assuming? Government doing anything to help people like you out?

 

@Blupig I am US, yeah.. Govt waived the waiting week for unemployment compensation so if I have to file monday I can right away.

My company is trying to work on a package to pay all the folks that have been working and not on lay off already our 40hr/wk.
We'll see how that goes.

 

Yeah its terrible, I've also got to wait a week before my EI starts coming in... oh well i guess that leaves more time to scape

 

My school shut down, I'm reading chapters that usually take us a week or two, in an hour or so. Then I do it again, started doing yoga, workouts at home, etc.

Kinda like it , kinda don't oh well tho ..

 

@2fatncrazy sitting at home has always been boring to me. Thankfully right now, it’s the weekend so I can just do my weekend routine, but this coming week is a different story.
