Know any real time graphs for the GE?

I have recently been studying the graphs of the GE very closely. I have found patterns that are almost 100% accurate. Basically with my method of trading, I have not found a single graph for any item, that I would have lost money on. My problem is that my method is basically day trading and the GE price is too far behind. I read, on a thread on powerbot from 2012, that someone found a website that gave real time graphs,on every item, that updated every five minutes and was free. I would like to know if any of you know of a website or any other resource for that matter, that provides similar information. Also if no such thing exists, how would one set something like this up? Would someone have to hack the client? Would it be harder to do than that? Would it be illegal?

Don't know of anything like that, sorry. I can't imagine something like that exists, and I don't think "hacking the client" would accomplish anything. What you're wanting to do is find the real time "prices" of items in the grand exchange. But there is something fundamentally wrong with that. There is not, at any given time, a single price for any given item. Rather, there is a large range of buy and sell offers all coexisting at once. It's not possible to get these offers.

Furthermore, I highly suggest carefully thinking about your method some more. If you're 100% confident that it will work, then great. Good luck to you! But, just hear me out. You're basing your investing strategy on past information held in graphs. All of this past data are weighted averages that are not completely understood. I don't think anyone really understands exactly how the grand exchange updates, and there are frequently debates about it in the official item discussion forum on RuneScape. Are you taking all of this into account? These graphs are decent for tracking trends in items over time, but probably not too useful for forecasting the future since the data in them are not well understood.

Merchz, I believe has both the top and bottom price for particular items at any given time. The problem is, I think they only have 90 something items they watch and their services cost a monthly fee. Also their "real time" charts, while certainly useful, are based off of the forums and aren't 100% accurate. I was thinking there might be some way to perhaps "hack" into the GE to give similar information that a 1x test might do. Anyways the graphs follow very predictable patterns but the fact they are a day behind is a huge problem. There was someone on the powerbot forums in 2012 that said he found a free tool that did what I was looking for, maybe it has shutdown, or he was lying or something I don't know.

 

Yeah, I would advise not using Merchz. Anyone in the merching community knows the PC clans (the source of data for Merchz) release data selectively and that it is biased.

Anyways, there probably is not any way to "hack" into the GE. And if there were, I'm sure you'd have to pay some serious cash to get that exploit.

It has to be emphasized that there is no "price" for an item at any given point in time. Rather, there are a bunch of different buy/sell offers all existing at the same time. Even if there were a way to "hack" the GE, this is what you would be obtaining. Alternatively, there could be a way to obtain a past history of transactions (which must exist somewhere since GE updates are based, in some way, off weighted averages of past transactions). This information by itself is probably not too interesting without information about the quantity of buy/sell offers at various prices around where you want to sell/buy as well.

Unfortunately, I really doubt you're going to find such a tool. Anyone smart enough to make such a tool would realize the profit potential of having essentially perfect information in a market where everyone else lacks it. They'd either sell it for an enormous sum of money and keep it very private or use it for personal gains.

 

Well that sucks, there goes that dream. I'll keep looking for a good GE tool but it doesn't seem like I'm going to find quite what I was looking for.

 

Yeah you're probably out of luck. If what you're saying is true about day-trading, however you define that, 5-minute increments won't really do you that much good. If the item is pc-ed in an fc, you could set up a bot that scrapes relevant text (think win all day dicing bots or something) and compiles it for you.
