Keeping Jagex Away?

Someone said that Jagex can't view the market forums here. What's Sythe's method of keeping Jagex from viewing? I'd like to know this, I have a few websites I work for that it would be nice to lock Jagex out of.

 

Could be wrong but i'm pretty sure in the TOS it says you can't work for jagex. Prob wrong, don't hate.

 

TOS can't legally keep Jagex away. We're breaking their rules, they can break ours. I'm assuming it's IP blocking of some sort?

 

most likely a ip block, TOS is just site rules, just like runescapes rules only apply ingame not in the real world.

 

I'm pretty sure jagex could get around IP blocks.. <_<

 

I'ts the TOS legally if they came in here sythe could sue.

 

but what if one of their friends goes on their home computer, collects accounts, takes them to Jagex and BAN!

 

That sounds like a waste of time just to look for accounts to ban.

 

Sythe is private property and Jagex members are considered trespassing if they come to Sythe.

 

Anyway JaGEx would ban alot more people if they were just watching soulwars. Consider they don't even do that...

 

If it somehow went to court though if jagex were caught "trespassing" I'm sure they'd have a much stronger case against Sythe?

 

Yeah I highly doubt they are going to waste their time to find accounts here to ban. They have millions of players, only a fraction of members on runescape use sythe. That fraction is not big enough for Jagex to care. Correct me if I am wrong, though.

Not necessarily, the law is the law. It doesn't matter how big Jagex is. You must abide by the law, no favoritism is involved. I think sythe would have just as strong of a case as Jagex would.

 

Jagex could easily gain acess to syth, at the very minimum they would currently know of its existance and have a rough idea of whats going on.

But i realy don't think they care, like Sindrefyn said -if they're not going to ban all(many) of the obvious boters and RWT that they could detect on RS, why are they going to go to the trouble of looking at syth members.

A Jmod can see the Sythe website from his home computer,i'm sure.

 

i dont know what "TOS" is but i just assumed jagex acessed sythe all the time to see accoutns and ban them....guess i was wrong

 

even if jagex was to come see us on sythe, Jagex cant exactly do much most people wont put there account username up on the forum to begin with and im pretty sure its an ip block aswell.

 

i am pretty sure jagex could look at noticable skill and do some database search but i doubt they will go through all that to ban one person

 

There's nothing stopping an empolyee of Jagex from going to an internet cafe/there home and looking up sythe and browsing it.

 

Sythe uses IP restrictions to block the Jagex office network. This does absolutely nothing, because any computer outside the network (or anyone inside using a proxy) can get around it in seconds.

As for the whole "No Jagex workers in TOS", the worst anyone can do is ban a suspected Jagex worker's account. And on most forums, mods can ban anyone at their leisure anyways.

Pretty much, the only reason Sythe does this is so he can say he's doing something. Just don't do anything stupid and you have nothing to worry about.

 

Theres a IP block I think also they will violate the ToC
