Would you vote for an atheist?

I just would like to know if you would be willing to vote for an atheist for public office (leader of your country).

 

Simply put yes.
I see no reason why you shouldn't unless your a religious person who cannot separate their own personal bias from other issues.

Atheists have been proven to be more rational and logical, so yes, I'd even pick an atheist over someone who's religious.

As long as I agreed with his political views I don't see why not. I wouldn't single him out for being an atheist.

This is probably the most irrational statement I have ever heard. How would someone go about testing how rational people are? First off, if you are an athiest you have no moral standard. Therefore, rationallity is what you want it to be. To conduct this study, someone would have to use a standard of rationality, which was probably biased towards the rationality which would be found in an athiest.

I voted no, although this is basically where I stand. In my opinion, people with religious views more accurately represent my political views. If an athiest also directly represented what I am looking for in a polotician, by all means I'd vote for him. However, our country, whether you like it or not, was founded on biblical principals; therefore, in my opinion, poloticians with biblical beliefs more accurately reflect the ideas presented in the constitution.

If you are wondering, I come from a Christian background, and I believe in the Christian God. Although I do believe in God, there are lots of things that do not make sense to me, and, as a result, I don't really act like a Christian nor do I worship God. Hopefully some day I will be able to, but currently I'm not.
