Meant if you didnt open any skype files or downloads you were most likely phished not ratted haha

However, if you recently downloaded any files through Skype from someone you don't trust, especially a jpg, then high chance its a RAT. It's incredibly easy to disguise a RAT as a jpg file.

 

I didnt know RAT files could be disguised in jpg? Would you know if the jpg you downloaded was a rat? Or would it actually still be a picture, but you would unknowingly have a rat downloaded to your comp?

 

That sucks sorry for the loss.. be more careful next time, always check your browsers link before logging in and run malware scans daily.

 

The files icon would be disguised and look like a picture, but there isn't any way to actually bind an exe to a jpg file Unless there is some kind of new exploit, i've been out of that scene for some time now.

There is a way to spoof a jpg as an exe lol. Also, there is a new mail exploit that's incredibly easy

ALSO, anti-chroming phishers is easier than ever.
