Just downloaded LoL!

Woo, so earlier on I've managed to download LoL, and I'm stoked with it. It's such a cool game, I'm currently only level 2, and I have to vs bots atm. But eventually I will get the hang of it. Anyone else new to LoL that is on the oceania server and wants to come play?

Will take any helpful tips/vids

Yeah, I'm already starting to love it. I got my eyes on a champion I want to unlock, lol -.- god I sound like a rookie, you all use all these acronyms and LoL and I don't understand it, ahha.

Yes the first champion you should buy is Kha Zix he is awesome and you can carry like hell with his although he is very difficult you will have alot of fun.

 

Well, if he's very difficult, he's probably not the best champion to learn on, surely?

 

Kha'Zix is not a great champion anymore and definitely not for a starter.

Actually, the champ is Zed. But I too have heard he is "difficult" what does that even mean? aren't all characters presumably the same?

 

Every champion is different, they all have different skills, different uses. Some are tanks, others are AP casters, assassins, AD carries. You'll learn soon. Basically every champion has different mechanics. Some are harder than others.

 

Would you recommend I buy a new champion? if so, who?

 

Zed is pretty tough to learn. One of the hardest, actually


"Difficult" just means his skills (abilities) are harder to use effectively - He has what LoL players call a high skillcap.

 

Frankly, at level 2, the best thing to do is to just learn how to play using the free week champions (they rotate every Tuesday to a new set of champions). There's a lot of champions in the game, and you won't know who to buy unless you start liking some of the free ones, since a lot of champions have similar mechanics/usage. For example, if you play a lot of Ashe and like playing her, you'll maybe want to buy and start using another ADC (Attack Damage Carry) who is similar to Ashe

Ah, I see what you mean. Well, essentially, if I bought him now rather than later; I would adjust to his abilities anyway?

 

Right now, since you've just started, I would buy a lot of different champions and find out which ones you like. But if you like Zed, just keep playing him, he's a great champion if you know how to use him.

Er, kind of... Honestly speaking, you're better off just learning the mechanics of the game with some sort of ranged champion anyway. (IE farming + last hitting, poking enemies, using abilities correctly etc)


Ranged is a lot easier because you don't have to put yourself directly in the danger zone and panic

(Zed is a high damage melee assassin-type character who is normally played in mid lane and sometimes jungle/toplane)


Edit: Oh, you bought Zed already. Well, you can learn him that way too!

 

Here's a tip: play Caitlyn (or any other "Marksmen/ADCs"). ADC stands for "Attack Damage Carry," meaning that the character is mostly used for autoattacking other champions. Focus on last hitting the creeps (enemy minions) with the ADC and try to get at least 50 within 10 minutes. It won't be easy at first, but trust me, it'll help you a lot in the game. By the time you're level 30, you should be getting at least 75 within the first 10 minutes.

 

To add onto this:


Top level players generally aim to get 100 cs (minion last hit kills) per 10 minutes, all while harassing and juking. Like Superman said, it will seem insanely hard to start with, but once you buy runes (with IP) then it will become progressively easier.

 

Zed is really strong if you learn how to play him correctly right now.
My suggestion is to try all the cheap IP champs (Annie, Ashe, Garen, etc.)
You can easily expand your variety of champions this way, and also possibly like 1 or 2. I played Ashe all the way till level like 20 back when I first started out.

 

Thanks for the tips, guys. I really appreciate the help you've given. So I mean, what is a good ADC character I could use? I like Zed, he's quite good. I was speaking to one of the guys in the game and he was giving me some advice. Use alt first, then q/e as a combo. Eh, it's difficult for me atm, but I'll get the hang.
