Journey to become a certified successful developer

Hello, gentlemen and gentleladies? Is that the term, hmm.

I'm currently enlisted to begin my journey to obtain an Associates' in Applied Sciences (Computer and Network Technologies - Programming) beginning January 3rd, 2022. As an avid 26 year old who is very passionate about programming this is a dream come true.

Hopefully, this thread won't disappear over the months in which I journey to achieve certificates and degrees. I'm wanting to post my journey in what I achieve and what I accomplish here within this thread. I can also show others who are interested in my work projects, accomplishments, and certificates if they ever need any proof of work. (I also keep all my projects, accomplishments, and certificates on my desktop).

What language(s) are you currently learning? Always cool to see passionate people working to better themselves. Also there is a #programming channel in a sythe discord, it's a little circlejerky at times (looking at you @Dev Zach) but people are generally pretty helpful.

 

I was able to learn HTML5, CSS3, and the basics of JS/Node.js in a local coding bootcamp hosted by the High School.
As of now I'm currently finishing a Python Intermediate Course covering classes, tuples, dicts, and SQL implementation.

So languages I'm learning as of now - just Python.

HTML - I would consider myself fluent.
CSS - I would consider myself fluent.
JS - I know basic function calling (if, while, switch)
Node.js - Very basic (hardly anything)
Python - I would consider myself an intermediate developer. I can script basic automation tasks but still lack a lot of essentials to consider myself a python developer.

I haven't checked out the Discord server it will be something I do in the near future though!

I didn't give up on this dream! I'm just currently swamped with quizzes and exams to continue services throughout Sythe! I now just build projects in my spare time for knowledge, experience, and projects. Hopefully, "soon", I can continue services but as of now I have to focus on the journey itself to majoring to become a Software Engineer.

 

I have came a very long way towards becoming a developer. This is a long journey and still exists even though the thread is ages old.

Whats new?
Completed HIS 120 in school moving onto more computer related courses now.
Now working through CIS (Computer Information Science) 105, wish me luck.
Should be an easy class ^

 

Good luck On this as i just started learning kotlin myself, as I know some java already cause i have been deving rsps for a little bit. www.edx.org is a great site. I have been using the site to take the cs50 computer science class online. It has great programs and great information, and if you want to stay up2date on you're practice www.codewars.com and https://leetcode.com/problemset/all/ are some great site to practice problems. Leetcode is more where people post their own coding problems, and see if you the user(you) can solve them so great for keeping up2date on the new code.
