Recently I received an infraction from @Jason for spamming somebodies service request thread in 07 RS. My post offered genuine advice, trying to save the user some gp in the long term. Great.

I replied to the infraction, pretty much asking for validation on why I received an infraction point versus a warning. No reply was received.

But if that type of post is truly spam, then I'd like to know why I'm so heavy regulated versus users getting mass +1's off of service request threads and trolling users entirely.

I've reported a post similarly mentioned above to see how it was dealt with, as it seemed to meet the criteria that was given to me as a 'spam' post, yet to my surprise there was no action taken upon it.

Now, I'd like to ask. How is my genuine advice WORSE than people getting their +1's and trolling threads? I.E:
Troll request, and it's pretty apparent. After the initial post by YH, he recovers to make it look as if he was being genuine? Sythe574 offering services!

I understand that I am a new user, but by offering my advice I wasn't trying to get +1s, I was trying to be helpful. After my post was removed, I even PM'd it to the user that had the advice taken off of his thread, and he thanked me for the advice..

Hello, sorry for not responding to your PM, I have been relatively busy the past few weeks. The post that the infraction was issued for is considered spam, as well as the other posts you linked. Your post was reported by a user and after looking at it I issued an infraction. It is only a temporary thing and will expire after one months time. Feel free to report posts similar to yours as you come across them, moderators do not search the forums themselves to find offending posts.

 

I’m not even going to joke like I normally do, I really enjoy talking to Jason. We originally had a bad bit at the start but he is a good guy, listens to me rant when I see him online and helps me all he can

It's evident what he was reporting, and it's also evident who he was reporting

I'm sure you could have handled said report based on what was presented.

 

I obviously could have, but we have a system in place we require the users to follow in order for us to adjudicate their issues. Allowing users to ignore these systems makes them useless, especially when they're very simple and straightforward for the user.

Yes, agreed - having a system in place is crucial, and the merits of abiding by said system is undeniable.

However, that doesn't mean you can't use your own judgement/discretion when someone unintentionally not following the prescribed format/rules has already posted a report, and the context and outcome of the report is extremely obvious and evident. Compounded with, English not being the users native language. Case-by-case evaluation needs to be considered.

Though I get that I might be a lil pain in the ass sometimes, it would be appreciated that you respond to me no matter which question I have. After all you’re required to be responsive as a staff member, but, you also know I love you so I truly see no reason why you shouldn’t respond to me.
