Jake Kastle Requesting Pardon for Being Framed

I'd truly appreciate if every moderator reading this could take the time to go through the whole pardon before making a decision.

    Pardon #1: http://www.sythe.org/dispute-forum-...le-requesting-pardon-being-hacked-framed.html

Proof of contacting victims for repayment or repayment of victims: Ray (Fulla) has acknowledged that I've given 40m to him.

Anything you weren't banned for but want to confess to now:
Yes, I ban evaded for two days. I felt badly about it and turned myself in.

Detailed description of the events that took place and why you think we should forgive you:

It feels good to be posting after such a long time. For both new and old staff members, I'll explain the situation as well as I can. I've come to fully understand exactly how and why everything happened.

First I'll explain exactly what happened between me and Fulla (Ray) on the 23rd. Before these events, I had only known Ray through dicing in the donor lounge. We had made several bets between each other, always without incident. In fact, I had come to know him pretty well and we were friendly with each other. Therefore, when I saw that Ray had posted a scam report against me, I was thoroughly confused. I only saw it a couple hours after, so I immediately contacted him via Skype to figure out what he was talking about. When he explained the situation, I was still unsure of what was going on and thought that he might be trying to scam me, but I soon came to realize that I had been played by someone else. Someone had created an impostor Skype account pretending to be me and had scammed Ray for 40m. What was unique about this situation was that when using a Skype resolver, my IP came up as associated with the impostor's Skype.

I’ve finally come to understand exactly what happened on that day. At the time, I had several virtual machines running bots on my desktop. Each of these virtual machines had remote desktop access enabled to allow me to check on my bots throughout the day from my laptop. Sometime on or before the 23rd, one of these remote connections had to have been hacked. I’m not exactly sure how the hacking process works, but I’ve looked into it and from what I've seen online it’s definitely possible. The hacker must have logged onto or created the impostor Skype account from the hacked virtual machine.

When I learned that my IP was associated with the hacker's Skype, I came to the conclusion that it was my responsibility to pay back everything that had been scammed. I immediately offered to pay Fulla the full 40m. However, Fulla knew that there was no way I had scammed him, and refused to accept more than 20m from me. So, I paid him 20m at the time. We were on good terms with each other at this point. However, I still felt bad that he had been scammed, so I offered him another 20m a couple days later, which he accepted. Fortunately, Fulla was the only victim. I'm unsure of whether the impostor attempted to scam other Sythe members during this time, but to avoid further scams I immediately took precautions and warned others against trading anyone claiming to be me.

I’m sure the intent of the hacker was to frame me. As to why someone would want to frame me, I’m fairly certain it has to do with my prominence and activity within the name sales community at the time. Name sellers don’t have the best reputation, and for good reason. Hacking, sniping, name reporting, scamming, lying, etc. are all methods implemented by some sellers to stomp out their competition. I actively called out and reported name sellers that participated in these malicious activities. Throughout my time at Sythe I’ve had several name sellers banned or TWC’ed. Furthermore, I used to keep tabs on runescape name owners, many not on Sythe. I would frequently update a list of names owned by scammers, which was posted on the name request thread when I used to run it. Whether out of the need for revenge, to eliminate competition, or to keep me from being involved, it’s evident that many people had motives to get me banned.

The notion that I would ever scam 40m just isn’t logical. I’ve been trusted with tens of thousands of dollars during my nearly 3 years as a member of the Sythe community. I would never scam anyone, but by looking at my past trade history it’ evident that I could have scammed much more than the paltry 40m that was scammed by the hacker. I’d like to point out that I paid off a $1000 debt to LoLsmurfin less than 3 weeks before Fulla was scammed. I would’ve walked away with that $1000 if I truly had the morals of a scammer. Furthermore, after my ban, I could have charged back thousands of dollars worth of PayPal trades. I'm just not the kind of person that could live with myself if I were to do something like that.

I value all that I’ve gained from Sythe. I still keep in touch with many of the dozens of friends I’ve made. Regardless of the outcome of this pardon, I’ll always look favorably upon my time spent as a member of the Sythe community.

To all reading this, I plead that you examine the context of the situation and the events that occurred before making a final decision. Thanks for taking the time to read my pardon.
