Jagex's Lies

as players, we expect a company's CEO to think about what he promised the community.

Jagex is greedy

 

I'm not asking them to completely disregard profits, that would be ridiculous. But I am asking them to respect and consider their players, and not be money-grabbing SOB's just trying to capitalize off our RS addiction.

Ya he for sure lied. But what do you expect him to say "listen children, we only care about your money"

 

It's a company, what do you expect? Of course they'll go for profits rather than the players, he was only saying it to make him look good.

They're a company, of course they want money. They need money if they expect to stay in business. No money=No Runescape. Quit whining. Like this sword thing is going to affect gameplay in any negative way anyways. If anything, the only thing this will result in, since they have more money to blow now, is more frequent/better updates.

He didn't promise the community anything. The word promise appears twice in the whole goddamned thing. One in the word "compromise", and once again, out of context, where he says giving exact dates for updates isn't feasible because of the time constraint it puts on them.

Let me quote what he said:

Even if this was a "promise", Jagex is still holding true to it. They're adding the item for fun. The 3 month cards would have sold anyways, new item or not. This isn't going to affect their sales as much as all of you are assuming, and frankly, and I said above, who gives a shit? This is pretty much like DLC on the Xbox. It's an update to the game, to keep it more interesting and dynamic. Do you see people moaning and complaining when a new Black Ops DLC pack hits the shelves? No. It's the exact same thing. But because all you 14 year old brats on the forums can't convince your parents to buy you membership, you all vent your childish, prepubescent frustrations on the makers of a great game.

The point: Runescape is NOT fun, and they DO try to make as much money as possible.

It's a business you can't expect them to not try and make money.

Every other mmorpg makes money in these types of ways, why freak at Jagex when they do the same?

If it was veteran free players who would of complained I bet they wouldn't of taken down the advertisements ...
They want new people ... and having the same old stuff isn't going to bring in new people ... new graphics new activities new items ... is going to bring in new people ...
I would believe that statement back in RSC But not after it.

 

They do have the upcoming member's Loyalty program.

I understand that they want to make money. I encourage them to make money, in fact, with their pre-existing member's subscriptions. But not like this. I've played RS since 2005, and back then you could tell that Jagex cared about their players and they were trying to develop better content and make their game desirable and more fun. But did you see the newest quest they released? Deadliest Catch took me exactly 26 minutes to complete, and the storyline was so awful that it was clear they didn't put any effort into its development.

I don't have a problem with them trying to make money, that's fine; it's what businesses do. However, when they completely disregard the opinions of their players purely for extra profit and basically impliment RWT into their own game, they have lost my respect.

Every single thing they do, people say "I quit, Jagex sucks, I've lost respect for them.. THIS IS THE LAST STRAW!"

No this is not RWT'ing because you're receiving a gift FOR FREE when you buy the membership card. That is not RWT.

What are you talking about RWT anyways? You're on a RWT'ing site.
You're just looking for things to rant about so you can act like people actually care about what you think.

At the end of the day it's a video game, it doesn't matter in the slightest.
If you're going to continue ranting about a tiny little sword and some rewards for being a member. Then you sir, truly have a sad life.

It's their game, they can do what the hell they want. It's not RWT'ing it's in the clear.

If all you're going to do is complain just quit.

 

the only reason us botters didnt get a perm on this mass ban and the only reason why they wont ban us because they need our members money, they said its a 14days ban then 8daysslapped on that if we commit again, years ago it was straight perm, not now there scraping ever penny, there making us pay to reinstate accounts and rumours of selling gp, liers much.

Thus they are destroying their own game, which will eventually (in the long run) make them lose profit. Instead of letting this game continue on for another 10+ years at medium profit, they're milking it for maximum profit so that it'll be dead in 2-3.
