Jagex selling levels for real money?

Haha, this is awesome! I love how Jagex destroys their game.

 

Hopefully this is a joke of some sorts, if it's not then yeah...

level 90 , is just fucking ridiculous

level 50 is high enough and then still...

 

it's quite sad, runescape is trying to become a spawn server, and end of the day they are willing to do anything for quick money.

 

It doesn't even matter too much which level(s) you will be able to "buy" in my opinion.

What does matters is that Jagex is IRL-trading with experience which is extremely sad to see, so if that update will actually come live I'll loose the rest (bout 5%) of my respect I owed to jagex. It's f**king ridicolous.

EDIT: Besides that 1-90 in a skill like farming or summoning will probably costs hundreds of $, which makes it even more sad.

 

This is really the worst thing ever. This same type of addition killed WoW and Maplestory, which both were incredibly popular. If they go through with this, I will immediately cash out my bank and move to '07, no questions asked. These people aren't even able to cater to their remaining audience. Anyone who creates new accounts on this shitty game anymore are just players who have maxed/comped and want to do it again on an ironmeme or want to start some sort of pure. The only way they even make money anymore is from membership fees and buying TH keys. If they make it where people don't actually have to grind anymore, they will be losing money just from the fact that not as much membership money will be paid to get to max/comp cape. This will be shooting them in the foot, and killing off their player base.

Runescape leadership also once upon a time said it wouldn't matter what a persons real life standing was financially in terms of success in Runescape.

That was breached on their own accord in a myriad of ways. MTX content among that.

Trusting a J-Mod's word is no more reliable than trusting a politicians word.

 

For those of you without HLF access that can't check yourselves, I can confirm Nikoli's post is legitimate screenshots.

The part that I find the most concerning is that they felt it was worth putting into a survey, even if they have no intention of doing it. If they have no intention of doing it now, they may later if the results of the survey are supportive enough.

 

The survey has no real function. It's about as legitimate as the bring back wildy & free trade "polls" or however they did that originally, when you could give your support with a fake account name.

It is just a way to make the players feel like they control the game (like Power to the Players). In reality though their control is still minimal. Hell, IVP has more of a say in updates than even J-Mods do, so a J-Mods promises are empty promises.

Do I think the level boost will be added to Runescape? Not in the near future. Do I think they could offer it in the future? Absolutely, it's heading in that direction.

Insight Venture Partners - The American company that has a majority stake in Jagex stock/ownership.

They're money grubbers, and many blame them for Maplestory dying and Runescape being turned into Pay2WinScape.

They probably pitched End of Combat/Content. I mean Evolution of Combat.

I don't think they did, but MTX is their realm of expertise.

 

Really curious how much they would charge.
If they follow through, this will be the worst update they ever made, alongside releasing EOC.

So glad 07 scape exists.

 

They even censored 'Insight Venture Partners' on RS/Forums (at one point, not sure if the censor still persists) because people were being critical of them.

If Jmods attempted to tell you the truth behind the company/investor actions, they would be fired. That is why they choose to lie or quit instead.

 

If this is real, damn. They are either so shallow to be open about this or idiotically make it an open survey question. I guess they believe they have rich kids playing their games.

 

Usually I stick up for RS3 a bit, but even this has me baffled at why they would even ask something like that

Jagex isnt that stupid to do something like this. No way would they offer levels for a lump sum, there's no way enough people would be able to afford it if it was expensive enough.

SoF lamps if anyone forgot. People were spending so much on exp till it got nerfed or something. I dont play rs3 but if they wanted to do something like this, they would sell you experience in smaller chunks and make way more profit off that.
