Ive lost all faith in online trading

I came to Sythe 2 months ago as it seemed like such a active trading post thinking i could sell my stuff on it.

2 months later i am in debt and have been scammed around 200m OSRS not to mention i have chronic depression.

I dont know how people can scam someone for such high amounts this month alone i have reported 3 sythe members that have scammed me.

makes me feel sad.

 

There are really greedy people out there man. You just have to make yourself more aware of the exams and how to prevent. If you would like, I can give you some tips on being a lot safer in the market.

Its really shitty, I’ve been there. I think everyone has. Its just something inevitable and in your case it happened to be right at the start, don’t get discouraged though. You will meet a lot of great people and you will meet the right people.

 

Middlemen are great tools for staying safe in trades however middlemen can’t prevent every scam such as PayPal chargebacks or account recoveries so When dealing with those two things, it’s best to buy/sell from trustworthy individuals.

Never really been active in FIFA, but I gotta say I didn't expect @Ed Sheeran to scam. Even though.. On the other hand he was a troll. The other 2 seemed quite obvious to me. Trading brings the risk of getting scammed, to make the chance of getting smaller you should get some trustworthy middleman to middleman your trades. Or don't trade at all.

when i was new to Sythe i got scammed multipile times, there are some trade things you should always check before trading, firstly of all obviously if you're talking to a imposter, then check how he is, does he want to do this trade quick? if he doesnt check his recent postings, if he has alot of trades lined up @ 1 point i would refrain from trading him, considering that's how scam quits happen
Then, check the QUALITY of his vouches amount count less, and check the trustability of the people who vouched,

Check how long he's been active on sythe ( not when acc has been created but active)

If its a big trade always use a OMM, there's no reason t not use a OMM considering there always are scammers and OMM's also are free,

I got scammed twice as well. Honestly, just don't get discouraged and keep going, eventually you will meet the right people.

Oh, and you might get raffled for community repayment in 4 months, so perhaps you might end up getting your money back! You never know.

 

Yeah don't be discouraged to trade, just be more careful and as Ice said, After a few months you qualify for the community repayment. so fingers crossed.

 

Hey Skullomon, I get where you are coming from... I got scammed 200m by Molly Moo and all they are getting is a ban for 3 months and I won't be able to get my money back because Paypal decided in their favor... I totally get where you are coming from. Meanwhile, after the ban is up they are free to come back and scam some more. They also bragged about scamming for upwards of 2 grand.

 

I think after the 3 month ban they have to repay us or stay permenatly banned well that's what i hope fingers crossed for us im our around 200-300usd too which is like 3 weeks work irl for me

 

This. People scam all the time but you will find the right people as you move along. Keep your options open, hell, I've trusted new people with over 15m. I don't know why, they just seemed to be the right people. But, don't do that, lol.

 

A good rule of thumb is to think to yourself: is what they lose for scamming me (their rep/account/donator status/opportunity cost of scamming more) larger than what they gain for scamming me?

 

That's exactly what I was thinking. Donator status, time on sythe, forum activity.

 

I think my problem is that i rush the trade and go first because the buyer is always so slow, Anymore il not go first unless 200$ donator.

 

You could utilize an OMM during the trade.

 

Online deals sucks, I must admit that. I've lost over $ 400 back on different forums. Always have a MM and deal with trustworthy users.
