So I'm not a huge hardware/software competent person, I know names of parts etc, but I can't build a computer, and not the best @ putting one together, what fits and works together, etc etc. So building one with gift money I'm getting throughout the holiday's, and I'm looking for it to be able to run 3 instances of RS (2 rs3 1 07/dmm), spotify, teamspeak, and be able to stream all at the same time. That is the absolute max it would ever be doing. I do not need a mouse/keyboard/monitor.
Only piece I have is http://www.sythe.org/non-virtual-sales/1907698-sale-pny-gtx-750-gpu.html
I can use that as my gpu.
I would prefer to keep it on the cheaper end if possible. I also have ~4 gigs of DDR3 ram sitting around that I can pull from the machine that's being jumked in the next 2 weeks. Do not care about OS, I can use Ubuntu or Windows just fine, I can either use my windows 7 disk, upgrade that to 10, or learn a new linux system if it's not that difficult.

Edit 1: After bluepig's suggestions, threw this together. Says it has 2 compatablilty notes. also, could I use an old harddrive or a 1TB external that I have in place of a internal harddive?

Edite 2: Do I need to change anything to be able to use 2 monitors?

    Minimum 8GB RAM, go for a powerhouse processor. I'd recommend a 4th gen+ i5, if you've got the money then go i7.

Nope, you should be good to go! Below are the specs from the NVIDIA site for the GTX 750 that you're getting:

So you'll need a HDMI cable and a DVI cable.

Alright so it looks like currently I'm going with Moses build, and thanks for the help Brenden on that dual monitor wiring, I'm not that good with this stuff. Does anyone else happen to have any input on what I can/should swap out with any of this?

If you're going to get a 4790k i'd suggest a better GPU to prevent any bottle necking. I'd also suggest buying an SSD to load your OS off of.

Or maybe buy a cheaper card, maybe an i5-4690k or something cheaper.

edit: I just noticed you also want to stream + run 2 monitors? You need a better GPU than a gtx 750. I'd suggest a GTX 960 or 970.

I'd build something along the lines of this:

    http://pcpartpicker.com/b/MpsJ7P

    or

    http://pcpartpicker.com/b/NQJV3C

Either of those builds can support the 4790k if you want to upgrade to that for future proofing.

Anytime my man. I only had my first build a few months ago (Used laptops previously) and I had to get a heap of help from friends. It's one of those things you learn on the go :)

I got an SSD, and it makes Windows spring up so fast, probably worth it to invest in even a cheap, 120GB one, just for Windows/Skype/TeamSpeak/A couple of games.

Ok, so now it looks like I'm going with Jsand's second link, as that one is ~$100 cheaper, and looks the same to me, and be thinks it can handle it. Now not having built a computer before, am I better off paying someone to do it for me, or should I be able to stumble my way through it just fine?

Honestly, it's just like lego these days. You put in the motherboard and attach everything, it's all marked on the motherboard.

Do you have a friend who's built one before? My roommate gave me a hand when I did mine, overall, it wasn't very complicated and saved a fair bit of money. You can always find YouTube tutorials as well. Everything comes with instructions anyway.

I can go find someone on campus to help me build it if I can't figure it out.

    The main difference is a i5 vs a i7.

But building a computer is just putting one part into another. The hardest part imo is plugging everything into the power supply

I agree with this 100%, the most annoying part to me is attaching the front panel connectors to the motherboard.

Also, in case you didn't notice the link i provided only has an SSD, i'd suggest buying an HDD and use it as a slave drive or a larger size SSD.

My very first build took probably 2 days to complete quite honestly, it's a bit intimidating at first but refer to your motherboard manual if you're confused about anything. If you have any questions you can PM me and i'll respond asap.

an i7 is way overkill for gaming really,

    general guidelines i'd give:

8GB RAM (less than that isn't ideal, more would probably be overkill)

i5 processor 4th gen and higher

SSD is almost 'mandatory' as it gives such a better performance than an HDD and they are cheap now.

other than that, it really doesnt matter since you already have a GPU

    here's a suggestion:

It isn't for just gaming or i would of recommended a i5, he wants to stream also where the i7 outshines the i5 by a long shot

I'd recommend you do that, getting someone to build it just costs too much money, and you won't be able to fix anything if there's issues, etc, cause you won't know much about the inside of your own computer.
