    There's been some controversy over Sythe bans extending to the unofficial Sythe IRC. So I thought I'd bring this straight to the people who use it;

    Essentially if you want to call it Sythe IRC, and you want to advertise it here on the site, then you must adopt Sythe rules and bans. If on the other hand you don't want Sythe rules and bans to apply (that is perfectly fine) then don't call it Sythe IRC.

    Any one of you is perfectly free to go rent a server, set up an IRCd and call it Grave's IRC, or anything you like, just not Sythe IRC.

    If bans and rules continue to remain unabided-by in the IRC then I will ban the advertising and mention of it. It is not fair that Sythe.org should be connected with -- indeed have its name on -- something which actively flaunts its rules and allows scammers etc. on it.

    Yes. You should be using Glines/Zlines with expiries. The expiry of each IRC ban should match the expiry of the corresponding sythe.org ban.

    It's unofficial because we don't run or maintain the server. If you apply the rules consistently you can continue to call it Sythe IRC. Simple.

    I don't think the official/unofficial label really means anything. We're not calling it official, because we don't run it. We don't require you to call it unofficial. But if you want the Sythe brand on it, then you should follow sythe rules and apply sythe bans.

    thats not fair at all . its not sythe.org . if you are going to regulate any irc it should be an "official" irc. Id say a possible name change is in order say to something like Sythe social group because thats all it is.
