    Is zero an imaginary number?

Asking this is surely the same as asking whether zero is positive or negative.

Meaning zero is either real and imaginary, or neither. This boggles my mind :p

    Is zero an imaginary number?

Well, this is very confusing and hard to grasp. You can sit here and think about the answer for the rest of your life, but will surely continue to find situations that will contradict your previous thoughts. Without delving too deep into this query, I believe that zero is not a figment of imagination, but a real and existing presence.

0 isn't an imaginary number because if it didn't exist.. there would be no numbers past 9.

I realize that copying and pasting wikipedia isn't the argument at hand, but this is how WIKI explains it, and I think it does a good job.

    Is zero an imaginary number?

A number is the symbol for an amount. If someone asks the question "How many do you have left?" you say "I have 2 left" 2 is the amount, therefore 2 is a number. If the answer were to be "I have 0 left" 0 is the amount, therefore 0 is a number.

Although, in the number 10, 0 is a place holder not a number.

So, 0 alone IS a number, but if it is used numbers like 10,100,1000...etc. it would be a place holder.

    Is zero an imaginary number?

Totally agree with 'The Fat Controller'
I mean, the numbers are placed their to indicate us the value of a particular item, or how much money you got, etc...
0 is not real, nor imaginary...
    Zero = Nothing...

    Is zero an imaginary number?

I don't think it is. Zero is neutral.

I agree with Shredderbeam. Technically speaking, all numbers are imaginary. Could you bring me a number 5 on a plate? Now we do have representations of numbers. On subject: Yes, zero is a number. It can be a quantity or a placeholder.

    Is zero an imaginary number?

ill never touch nothing but the number zero does exist in space lack of atmosphere force literally I will likely never experiance zero but its existence is irrefutable in the sense that if you have lest say in the spirit of runescape you have one log, you burn the log, you have now zero logs. Its a concept that your character cannot touch that log again. Also in chemistry and physics the absolute zero in kelvins is un-attainable but it is there it does exist meaning no kinetic energy, all elements are in crystalline solid. hopefully this helps

    Is zero an imaginary number?

If 0 is not a number... answer the question to this...

    1 (minus) 1 = ?

Obviously "nothing" or "0", which it represents.
Therefore, "0" is the number of nothing.

    Is zero an imaginary number?

It cannot be a value if it is written on a paper necessarily... for there is no equation which bounds this "number of nothing" :)

    Is zero an imaginary number?

no, zero isn't imaginary. the reason is becouse you can have the quantity of "Zero", therefore it is as real as it get's.

If i have Zero money left after buying a Ipod, i have the quantity of zero, wich is an' amount. Get it? therefor, the number zero do excist...

Everything that IS something, can't be imaginary ;D Becouse it IS, in fact, something you can feel, use, or believe.
(sorry bout the last part, from norway, so my vacabulary blow's :/)

Having "zero money" means that you don't have any money.

    ^ LMFAO!~

If every number is imaginary, what about our language, other languages, all the letters of the alphabet? Are they all imaginary?

Yes, they are. Can you point to "3" in reality? How about "A"?

It's imaginary, just like anything spoken or written. Don't be so naive.
