    Is your PC Secure?

Closed means that hackers can see it, but not attack it unless it's opened.

Well, I've done a couple of these before. But I hardly ever use non-repos software (My most used software is Iceweasel, Emacs, Pidgin and Irssi), and I generally check if non-repos software has a history -- googling the name and seeing if you get "THIS IS A TROJAN" on a security website is the most FUNDAMENTAL thing everyone should do with ANYTHING they download.

Add to that and my non-root account, and I'm reasinably safe.

This topic is kind of misleading. The only way you can be completely secure is if you really watch what you download - people can attack you other ways than just open ports.

For example, an undectable trojan can get on your computer and start keylogging you, then upload the keylog log file to a remote server and the attacker can look at it. No open ports are needed for that, and most well written trojans can completely get around firewalls.

The reason these are open is because this computer is the DMZ host which opens all ports. Port 25 and 80 are secure cause my ISP blocks them so we can't host or send email.

Also, like the kid above me said. If you watch what you download, which sites you go to, then you will be fine. I never have anti-virus installed and I have never keylogged. I do, do an online scam just to be sure but they always turn out with nothing.

Also at the current time all Trojans are Detectable, there might be a few rare trojans at the current time, but no one has updated their cryptors yet for people newer at creating trojans :(. Why do AVs have to update so often gr....

Just because these ports aren't opened nor accessible does not mean that your PC is secure, do NOT be lulled into a false sense of security. There are countless other ways that your security or privacy can be circumvented by any number of trojans, worms, backdoors, rootkits, virii, keyloggers and same of the ilk. Only by taking constant preventive measures and common sense on how not to infect yourself will keep you clean.

What Ben and Steve said is true. The website only reports what can access your computer remotely, but an infected computer can always access elsewhere. Also, the port scan does not scan all the ports, but only scans the basic services. I offer services through my computer which the ports have not been scanned by the site, but my firewall will notify me if there are incoming connections.
