Is this legitimate/allowed?
Couldn't exactly find an appropriate forum for this particular question, but under any circumstances can someone claim they are more trustworthy than anyone else because of an old join date?
Taking into account vouches aren't that far from both users, will the person with the older date be deemed more trustworthy? Just read through all the rules and couldn't find anything on this particular question.

Hmm would like to know this aswell.

This should be in Sythe.org support.

When looking to trade with users look at the following.

1. Vouches : When looking at the vouches, always remember that quality is more important than quantity. Consider this: one trader has 100 vouches, for 10 million each (The amount that was traded, this could be anything: GP, accounts, questing, skilling, etc.)
A second trader has 1000 vouches for 1 mil each, which one would you trust more? You are better off trusting the first trader since he/she has traded and handled more at one time. You should also consider if they used a MM/OMM, went first or second and what the trade was for.

2. Rank : A user that has earned the rank of Moderator/Administrator/OMM could be trusted a lot more than a regular user. That being said, users can be trusted more than people with ranks but with all I said you need to consider all factors. This should be the 2nd thing you look at to determine their trustworthiness.

3. Donation Status : If someone has donated not only does it show that they supported Sythe but it also gives them a little trust points. The reason I say this is why would someone scam $50 if they donated $100? However some scammers use previously stolen money to donate, so this should be the 4th thing you look at to determine a trader's trustworthiness.

4. Post Count : High post counts shows they spent time on Sythe and are less likely to waste it on scamming. Beware though this should be the Last thing you look at to determine their trustworthiness. Scammers usually spam their post count up to give themselves false trust

5. Join Date : If they joined this month I would be wary of them and if they joined a long time ago I would give them a little more trust points . Note: some scammers who legitimately traded years ago come back and are now using their "trust" to scam. This should be the 3rd thing you look at to determine their trustworthiness.

If you found it helpful, thank him.

Join date means nothing, just got scammed from some faggot that was registered since 2005.

The answer is simple. No.

In this case, as vouches number are similar, just look at the quality of them.

There is no "official" guidelines to what makes one user more trusted than another user. The guidelines set out above in Lillie's thread are merely points that should all be taken into account when using your own discretion to decide how trustworthy a certain user is. None of those things are written in stone though!

There have been tons of examples of Mods, OMM's, and users who have been on these forums for YEARS being banned for scamming and other incidents that warranted a permanent ban. The unfortunate truth with anybody over the internet is that you just never know. So always use your best judgement when trading with another user.

To better answer your question though - NO. A person's join date should not make that user more trusted than a newer user at all. You could have a guy that joined in 2008, yet has 2 vouches and has hardly any reputation on the site at all, vs. a guy who just joined 4 months ago yet has traded over $10,000 worth of goods and has a lengthy vouch page. Each user is a unique individual, and you should use your best discretion when deciding who is trustworthy and who is not.

It all depends on one's experience. Does he seem trustworthy to you/someone else?

Answer: NO.
But if they have the same join date and same number of vouches, i would look at the quality of their vouches (others go first, how much, who they sold to).

While I'm at it, I'll ask a question on the same topic instead of making an individual thread.

I know quality of vouches is way above quantity. But is that limited to the quality of the trade or the quality of the person giving you the vouch?

In other words, is it allowed to claim that because you have, lets say 5 vouches from MM/OMMs and highly respected sellers, you are deemed more trustworthy than someone with 40 vouches from everyday people.

I would trust someone with trades from highly respected MMs or mods. As for 40 vouches any of them could be faked.
