Is the new iMac worth it?

I'm thinking of getting the new iMac 27 inch with 3.33GHz processor and the 8Gb of RAM.

I'm just wondering if there are any other, cheaper or better, alternatives to a different computer that would be equally as good or better.


Links would mean a lot to me. The only thing I really came up with was the intel core i7. But I would have to go through the trouble of building a computer >.<

iMac's aren't an economical choice. They're hard to fix and upgrade, and considering they cost a LOT compared to other desktops, that's significant.

Can you summarize what features you look for in a computer and a price range? I'll get you links to parts.

This is a good desktop, it's about 650 dollars cheaper so you can get a nice monitor.

I like a decent graphics card, around 8 Gigs of RAM, 650GB+ of memory, and a good processor. I was thinking about maybe the dell XPS as an alternative but they seem pricey too.

I'll just keep it short: Macs aren't worth it.
They're overpriced just like any Apple product.

It would come out to $2500, right?
As long as you can settle for a smaller monitor, here's what you could get for that price.

i7 3.33 Ghz [The Same]
12GB Ram (instead of 8)
2TB Hard Drive (Instead of 1?)
...and a much better graphics card

I'm not saying you should go with all that, but this was just to show how much more you could get by buying a PC instead.

 

Yeah, I had my brother come in my room and look at the prices since I'm incompetent when it comes to building computers.

The computer that was linked on New Egg before in this post is better than the iMac and $1,100 less
