Is Runescape safe?

When I go onto their main site and try to create my "free" account Webroot Security (A computer protection service) comes up with a message that there is malware trying to access my computer and it gives me the URL of Runescapes main site and all these warnings pop up. I'm a bit worried about geting started...

 

It's completely safe, maybe you are on a phishing site, if you aren't then it's fine - Making an account and playing the game is perfectly safe.

 

Could you link me to the site you use? I may just be on a fake one...

Might be that Webroot Security is bad? Never heard of it.

 

No, Webroots been recommended by Bestbuy and places like that. Been using it for years and it's saved my ass a LOT haha will all these viruses i've picked up over the years. I'll try again.

Also when I click on "play free now" why does it want to run a file?

 

Erm, it doesn't? Not sure if that happens the first time you play it, can't remember.

 

Runescape needs Java to run (atm). Press Yes. If you're on www.runescape.com you're fine, it's safe.

 

That's not a webroots security warning, that's just a Java confirmation. It is even stating that the signature was validated by a trusted source on the bottom; it is safe to run.

 

^That wasent Webroots warning. I closed all of those out before I took the pic. I just wanted to know what that fle was. Thanks guys, MOD can close now.

 

Do be careful for phishing sites though
