    Is RS3 worth the try?

    Hello hello.

I stopped playing Runescape after the EOC but have been playing OSRS.
Haven't touched RS3 at all since but i've seen Sick Nerds youtube videos of his hcim and I seen stuff that really intrigues me, mostly archeology, so cool!
However, is it hard to pick up on? all those abilities seems like a drag too.
Is there any client like RuneLite but than for RS3 to make stuff easier/more relatable to OSRS?
    Would love some help!

I dont think there is a client for RS3. I have wanted to try it as well, there is just so much new stuff since I played back in 2009-2011 or so I feel overwhelmed which keeps me from really giving it a try. That and all the quests and everyone looking like a character from a chinese mobile ad. The bossing looks fun though. Might be worth buying an old rs3 account and giving it a shot but I wouldn't invest much into it until you know you like it. The combat is also a bit dissuading and looks floaty. Idk i'm in the same boat just overwhelmed with it.

    Is RS3 worth the try?

Heya, hardcore RS3 lover here to give some insight.

I was in the same boat as you when EOC came out. I quit and solely played Private Servers because I was really put off by the whole ability thing. After a couple years, I met someone who convinced me to try RS3. He gave it high praise and I voiced really not wanting to play because of abilities. Not the abilities themselves but because of it being difficult for me to use my hands to press them (I'm disabled and pressing a lot of keys is very hard for me.) However, he said I could use something called Revolution for it where the game uses your abilities for me when they're off cooldown. So I was like... fuck it. I'll give it a try. And I'll say, I haven't regret it since then.

In about six months, I learned so much about the game because of EOC that I didn't know before. I learned a lot about what it was to really want to learn something, how to put dedication and time into it, and so much more. The abilities are great and the overall PvM aspect of RS3 is, in my opinion, way better than OSRS. With OSRS, you go to TOB and Raids and that's it for PvM for the big bucks, honestly. RS3? You've got Solak. Telos. Nex: AoD. Raksha now. Hell, even the Elite Dungeons are absolute money makers. The caveat with them is putting in time and money into learning them.

If you put time and effort into learning RS3, it's so fun. I ended up taking quite a break because I was VERY close to max and Archeology was coming out and that demotivated me hard. But since I came back, I've pushed max harder and Archeology hasn't stopped me at all. When it comes to OSRS vs RS3, I feel like RS3 is so much better. There's a lot more to AFK for experience so you're not forced to look at your screen every second you're playing to get experience. There's a few like that in Old School, but not like RS3. Some say that's a downside of RS3 but I like it personally. Gives me time to do other stuff while also being able to train and work on my goals.

One of the things that IS a downfall of RS3 is that they don't really... know how to balance combat effectively? I'm not sure how to word it. What I mean is that at one point, Melee could be the strongest style, then they release one thing for another style and then that style is now top-tier. For example, Range was the worst combat style for the longest time. When Raksha came out the end of last year, a new Ability upgrade got released called Greater Ricochet. This changed the meta and has made Ranged the best style in almost every scenario (unless you've got bank to drop on melee I think?) I'm no expert so do take that with a grain of salt. Of course, every style is useful at different places, but the biggest gripe a lot of my friends have is that JaGex can't balance their combat and stuff like that at all without making one of them completely busted.

For how hard it is to get into it, I'd say it's a learning curve, but it's not horrible. As long as you can read, you'll be okay. You can fully customize your keybinds to your liking. You can play revolution (which I do) so you don't get overwhelmed then try Full-Auto ability casting whenever you feel comfortable doing so. There is no client like RuneLite or anything, though there's a plugin called Alt1 Toolkit which offers some little things like a clue helper. Nothing major like RuneLite can.

Sorry for the long post, but yeah. Wanted to put a bit into it so you have a general feel to it. If you REALLY want to learn the game, Ironman is the way to go since you'll be relying on yourself.

TL;DR - give it a try! You might really enjoy it!

@Kaizer UwU thank you for your reply, really helped me!
If I am going to try it, it will be HCIM yes.
However, i'm kinda afraid there's so much to do, like dailys, that it becomes an obligation and it will have a negative outcome on my enjoyment of the game, is that true? because what I get from Sick Nerds videos, is that there is just sooooo much to do

    No problem!

With RS3, there are a LOT of dailies you can do, but you don't have to. However, as an Ironman in general, it's definitely best to be on top of them. If you don't, you'll definitely regret it later on, especially with magic and invention. There's a lot of QoL things you can work towards too, which is 81 for Crystal-flecked Sandstone and Red Sandstone. Those make Crystal Flasks and Potion Flasks, which make it able to use 6-Dose potions. Or rather, so you can make them. There'll come a point where shop runs won't be a huge thing to worry about, but early on, they're kind of important. Jack of Trades aura will help you so much with early game Herblore, but it's not a mandatory (just highly recommended thing) and only takes like two minutes? For daily things like Big Chinchompa or sinkholes, you don't have to do them but they do speed up skilling quite a bit and it's only like twice a day.

They really come down to if you want to do them. You don't HAVE to, but it's always recommended just to be on top of things!

rs3 sucks in my opinion but hey, maybe it's your cup of tea! Wouldn't hurt just spending an hour into trying it out. Which game is "better" is totally subjective. :)

NGL I logged in to my main about a month ago, for the time in a long time and I had a pet Pig in the bank.. How I obtained it? No clue.
Other than that I was bored within about 3 minutes. But I think RS3 would be the more optimal game for newcomers.

    Is RS3 worth the try?

Recently, a lot of OSRS players are switching back to the original game and they have only good words about it. From time to time, players say how bad economy is in OSRS (apparently everything is dropping and the game is extremely flooded with bots) and how dull it gets so they have a nice fun experience with RS3 but depends from person to person, of course.

    Is RS3 worth the try?

Yes RS3 has a client just like Osrs does :). Rs3 has ALOT of new bosses and new updates almost weekly. When I do combat on RS3 I go in the settings and set it as like Osrs combat because I do not like EOC. Buying an account is nice too but always decent to have a fresh account that you created yourself aswell but that is up to you of course. It can be a bit overwhelmed and will take time to get used to how the game works. Also RS3 is pretty much afking now so it is less difficult, still got to grind the skills but just faster I guess.

Enjoy your time on RS3 if you decide to give it a try :)

RS3 is actually a much better game than osrs. I only think the economy is too far gone, what would you think of an eco reset?
