yes its possible to get a virus from any file type. And .exe dosent always mean its a virus .exe is used for installing programs and a bunch of other things.

If it is soley .MP3 I don't think you can get a virus. The thing is, You can get a virus if ...say you clicked "Download" to get the .Mp3 but then it downloads .mp3 and something else (Virus/trojan..etc)

Just get McAfee SiteAdvisor , and don't download from red links (Unless you know what your doing)
