Is it ilegal to have a baton?

Just asking because after i got robbed at knifepoint yesterday im really paranoid.. dont even want to go to school anymore of fear they might be at the deli chilling with their friends and rob me again

 

It depends what country you are from. Different countries have different laws.

 

Assuming your from the U.S., then no it is not illegal. It is illegal to use it without cause (i.e. mugging someone), but if your using it to defend yourself that's fine.

 

That's fucked up that you got taken advantage of like that, sorry to hear that.
As for the legality of a baton, I'm not really sure, but what I know isn't illegal is a tazer, and that can do almost more damage then a baton, and is worth having.

Yea im just keeping it in my belt place because i was so defenseless when i had a knife up in my throat got my $300 phone stolen and im really mad.. its the first time its happened now im really paranoid dont even trust people anymore :l

 

I think as long as your not impersinating an officer you should be alright
you might want to look into state/counrty laws on that tho,use google its a very good resource for laws

 

If you're bringing it to school, definitely leave it in your backpack and don't tell a soul you have it. Otherwise I see why not, just don't go flailing it at every random person you see and you shouldn't get in any trouble for having one.

 

Don't use a baton, you're not a cheerleader. Start carrying a hunting knife around.

 

In some states it is, some it isn't. Gotta check up on where you live.

 

what the hell man, that sounds ridiculous to have people robbing you near your school? doesn't the police do anything or whatsoever?

And carrying a baton might give you a sense of security, but in actual fact it might be placing you in more danger.

Being without any weapons, you submit to them and hand over your stuff without putting a fight whereas with a baton, you will attempt to fight with them which might put you in more danger....

if they have numbers and a knife, and see you trying to challenge them with a baton, things might end up really bad!

so i advise you not to carry a baton or any weapon whatsoever, even if it is for self-defense. Instead try to get the authorities involved.

 

I'm unfamiliar with the US laws, but i'd report such an incident to the police. If you whip out a knife if you're being mugged you're either going to:

a) Scare them off.
b) Get stabbed.

I wouldn't take the risk.

I believe that it is legal to carry, but not really.. socially acceptable. If you are truly scared you might want to consider a more compact means of self defense.

 

I would get a sword, they're legal to carry in NY. When they come at you with their tiny knife and you pull out a giant sword, they'll stab themselves instead of trying to fight you..

 

Suggest you To report it to the Police and See what happends its a bad idea to bring a baton against Many guys with knifes a fight like This Happen 2 years ago in My Country and the guy Who toke A knife and tried to stab the guys Got Killed so guess its pretty stupid if want to risk your Life on some thiefes

 

you dont take a knife to a gun fight, just like how u dont take a batton if someones gonna show you a knife. your best option is to never carry anything of value on you, or if you do, have it hidden very well.

 

Yeah, I never carry anything to substantial value or much cash at all. The most cash I ever carry is like 30 bucks, unless I am going to make a big purchase of course but then I don't really walk around outside of a vehicle in rough neighborhoods. Carrying a baton would make you look stupid, a knife is much more sensible and a lot less legally ambiguous.

 

if i were you i would buy a switch blade from a black-market kind of store. I bought my self a butterfly knife with a 7 inch blade for $30 and i love it. You could buy a like 5 inch long switch blade for $15 and those things open up in .5 of a second and you can re-enact the rambo 3 ending with it heres a demonstration:
