Is hosting downloaded movies illegal?

So last night, I was laying in bed and going through the channel store on my roku device and found a few really neat channels like 24-7 horror channel and manga(an anime channel) as well as a few other neat ones and thought to myself "hey, I wouldn't mind sharing some of my cool flix with people!" but then I got to thinking, all 5000 some movies I have set up on my XBMC and plex are ALL downloaded from the pirate bay (a free torrent site).

I've always understood that its NOT illegal as long as your not SELLING the movies/tv shows, however alot of these roku channels cost money, like the 24-7 horror channel costs $1.99. So, if I were to make my own channel and put some movies I enjoy on it could I get into legal trouble?

If I were to make a channel, I would probably do something like the 24-7 horror channel does, a free version that has certain movies on it and a version that costs money and has alot of movies on it.

There could be a high possibility you could get in trouble for copyright infringement. Thats why on youtube your not able to watch say for example Transformers.

 

It doesn't matter if you're selling them, it's still illegal.

 

you only have view rights when you own a movie, nothing else.

 

It's illegal, you do not actually "own" the movie, even If you paid for it

 

As for as i know its illegal everywhere to host movies.

uploading pirated material is illegal. As you stream, you're uploading content from your computer to the internet. Therefore it is illegal. I'd have thought that would be common sense..
