Should the death penalty be allowed?

Should the judicial system have the right to take someones life?

I've been pondering about this, post away.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

Most certainly. If a murderer feels that he/she has the right to take away somebody else's life, then I don't see anything wrong with him/her having a taste of his/her own medicine.

Of course, life imprisonment may lead to more suffering, but that's a different topic.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

Personally, I believe that those who take the lives of innocent people should be sentenced to death. There is nothing in the world that can replace the lost life of a person.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

Yes, although it is sometimes 'overused' there are some things it is the only punishment for

Should the death penalty be allowed?

I believe it is and should be atleast availabe lin all 50 states of the US because some people who have tortured or killed others also deserve the same.

Depending on circumstances i believe it may be a viable option, However do two wrongs make a right?

Should the death penalty be allowed?

Yes, I think anybody who murders or rapes should definitely be put to death. I think even other circumstances warrant the death penalty, such as assault with a deadly weapon, stealing large amounts of money/items, armed robbery. Anyone who decides to be a burden on society and commit crimes that they know are wrong should just be put to death and not have to be worried about again. I bet if people knew that they would be put to death if they committed a major crime, it wouldn't happen as much.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

I don't know, it often seems like the easy way out in my opinion.

I'd prefer for them to get locked up for life, with no possibility of ever getting out. Seems like a harsher punishment. At least that way they'll have to live with what they did for the rest of their life.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

I'd rather they be kept in solitary and tortured every day for a month before they were killed, but yes I do condone the death penalty and believe it isn't used enough.

I believe any rapist or murderer should be put down. They obviously have no respect for human life. I think that once you do something that awful to an innocent person, that 'human rights' you had before should be taken away(and yes, I know, rights are something by definition that can't be taken away but you know what I mean).

I don't want to pay taxes to keep these people alive anyways.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

It just seems like a waste of money to lock up and maintain a bunch of murderers, rapists, etc. They will never get out, they just sit there costing people money. I would say death penalty is the way to go, but maybe even making all the criminals do work, and help clean up the streets and highways and whatever other shitty job you can think of. Alternative to the death penalty, send all the major criminals over to Siberia in Russia. US pays for a prison in a remote place and pays the Russians to watch over them. Freezing cold all the time, shitty conditions, off our hands for the most part, that would definitely scare people away from committing crimes because that would suck.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

I've always thought a life sentence with no parole eligibility is ALOT worse than death... I agree with this right here.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

It's actually cheaper for life in prison than the death sentence.

But that's besides the point, the biggest issue brought up when concerning the death sentence is "is this person truly guilty?"

Even in this modern time people are wrongly imprisoned for rape and murder due to falsified evidence, rushed evidence, corruption, what have you.
It's very difficult to go back on something when they're dead.

Then you have the moral aspect of it. How can you say you're better than this murderer when you kill them?

Should the death penalty be allowed?

In my opinion, it should not be used. Even if one innocent person is murdered by the government, that is too many. I'd rather be safe than sorry and just give murderers life imprisonment so new evidence can always be brought in.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

This is because the judicial system is flawed, it does not need to take 40 years worth of appeals to kill someone.

Personally I fully support the use of the death penalty. Put in place properly and with the right rules, it would be far cheaper than life in prison.

This however, does not mean it should be used lightly or without undeniable evidence, such as pleading guilty, caught during the act by the police, or thousands of eye witnesses such as an assassination attempt.

People who take innocent lives on purpose, premeditated should be killed in my opinion. Rage killings are not better, but they should not be sentenced to death for acting on their blind rage. Rapists should be killed also, as they are the scum of society and should be extinguished.

The last time I checked it costs nearly $50,000 a year to house a prisoner. In a life sentence of 30 years that cost would come to $1,500,000 a far cry more expensive than $1.50 for a 12 gauge shell.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

We're humans and as humans we all want vengeance against those we see as wronging society. The truth is that there are innocent people on death row right now and numerous innocent lives have been taken at the hands of our blood thirsty society. It costs much more to kill someone than it does to house them for life and making someone live out their life in a tiny cell only getting out 1 hour a day is much worse than just killing someone. Killing someone is the easy way out and you essentially put them out of their misery. What kind of punishment is taking someone else's life? It isn't a punishment it is a favor compared to staying in prison until you slowly die of old age. If I had the choice of living out 70 years in a tiny cell or being killed in a few years I would rather be killed than know that right outside those walls was the sun, the sky, the grass - freedom. Depriving someone of freedom to move and go about life as they want is a much worse punishment then poisoning them.

No. I don't believe humans have the moral authority to determine who it is 'right' to kill.

Should the death penalty be allowed?

I believe in the death penalty but at the same time I do not.

I agree if ones crime should be at a bad enough end they deserve to die but I think it also depends on their beliefs and such.

A man who rapes and murders women because his mommy beat him a lil bit to much when he was a kid needs the chair.

A man fighting for his beliefs, be it against another race or a religious act of murder in anyway due to his beliefs I believe should be put in prison for life, but not murdered.

A person who murders children with no guilty feeling should be thrown into a chamber and gassed in the most painful way possible.

A summary of my opinions on this, would be easier to say:
A serial killer needs to die, while a race supremacist or religious fanatic should simply be locked away to fight among his brothers until Valhalla calls.
