Is Drake ACTUALLY A Good Rapper?

Well look at it like this.
Hes mainstream so he's not going to be that great.
What i can say is hes better then most mainstream artists.

 

I'm pretty sure Biggie and Pac rapped mainly about the same things, but it's all of the mainstream rap thats terrible these days.

Rappers know whats going to sell, so they pretty much just want to get their money, which can be argued as "right" or "wrong"... We as fans expect the same music that we've loved, whereas at the same time, more than likely you would be taking the route to get paid too.

 

I think Drake has lyrical flow, he obviously has enough talent too make it on the radio.

No he is not a good rapper, he focus's too much on the production and commercial side. He is not true to his roots.

I find drake bad, without Lil wayne he is nothing.

 

I'm not really a big fan of Rap but whatever Drake is doing must be right hes quite sucessful i have listeined to some of his songs overall but non shout out at me.

 

Having talent and being on the radio are completely unrelated

Have you listened to the radio recently? Its just full of shitty music. Mainstream radio has completely lost its credibility. If a song made/endorsed by a major record label, then it goes on the radio.

They might be "shitty" in YOUR opinion, yet it's still on the radio, so it's obviously not that shitty, ROFL.
Otherwise, any piece of garbage would be on the radio, and this is clearly not the case.

 

Those songs are shitty (big sean is amusing though). Garbage is constantly on the radio. It clearly is the case. Lil Wayne's rock album was horrible. "Prom Queen" reached #15 on the hot 100. I don't know what to say. Radio play is only about having good PR people/connections.



Anyways, just because Aubrey sings/acts like a bitch doesn't make him a lyricist. He has decent flow, but I don't think he's anything special. I don't find his lyrics meaningful, or his rhymes creative. He's smooth as hell though. He needs to find better rappers/producers to work with, this YMCMB shit is getting old.

 

Really? Have you listened to Wacka Flacka? All over the radio, but he has ZERO lyrical talent. Drake is the most monotone person I have ever heard. As I have stated, he appeals to kids. Ask a real hip hop fan what's in his cd player, generally it won't be anything newer than 2007 at the latest... Excluding mix tapes. Mainstream rap is dead.

And I've alway been a Lil Wayne fan... Old Wayne > new Wayne.
